Hurdles and Triumphs
I WILL get past all the hurdles this fart-infested puss-busting beurocracy has placed in front of my paychecks. This nonsence the student employment office built up around federal work study is not designed for fairness to students---it's designed to facilitate their own laziness.
Two of the old bats in the student employment department are perpetually grouchy, presumptuous, and condescending. I can only figure that it is one or more of the following:
Lazy
Stupid
Put corn in the wrong orifice
Dry plumbing since birth
I can't decide. Let's go with all of them.
Still...either way I'll be paid something. It'll probably just be 50 cents less than I expected. At least I'm above minimum wage. =/ Good news is that it looks like I can file as tax exempt cuz I'm full time student under 25 and next to no moneyes. That'll help a lot.
Things will be tight...very tight...but at least it'll be something. We'll manage, I know it. I'm just proud to have snagged a job with really nice people that pays some money and lets me study during said job.
Other triumphs include:
1,000,000 pageviews on deviantart
Snagged a part time job doing art with a highschooler. 4 hours a month = $80 = travel expenses for the month PAID. It inspires me to put out flyers to do children's parties. A little extra money here and there can add up and help make things barely fit.
My epic spotting of the best place to stand to get OBC RENT autographs. Got Daphne Rubin-Vega (Mimi) and Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Angel). ON MY BOO BAG. I don't think either of them gave out more than 10 autographs. EEEE. So lucky and awesome. I need to go over the autographs so they won't fade...
And hey, uh, if you or anybody you know needs any kind of art, look my way. I'm taking commissions and I'm much less($5-15 per hour) than the average freelancer($20-30 per hour), owing to my despiration. =0 Really, my quality is so high, it's like theft. Take advantage of it. =0
