the reception and dinner before the cww (center for women writers) 10th anniversary and the event celebrating it went really well. i was very very impressed and felt honored to have been invited to the reception and dinner, it was a great "melting pot" of older students and a few younger students and in-between people. very interesting and enlightening.

at dinner, kim varnadoe (studio art professor, who i had my first janterm with freshman year, in artist books) was at my table, and she remembered me and my putting a few of my essays from my senior portfolio at governor's school into my books, and she's teaching it again this coming janterm. she also told me that she had a girl/student who finished in fall, maybe last year but sometime recently, and she found out janterm was tagged on to fall semester and so she was able to do an additional janterm, which would be a-fucking-wesome if it is possible for me. and then i got to thinking while i was talking with melissa and betty. i've taken six creative writing classes already. we now offer a creative writing major. i'm not sure how the major is laid out course wise, but i would seriously only need like three more creative writing classes to graduate with a creative writing major from here. which would mean staying through spring term, and me becoming a CE student and having to find someplace to live because CE students can't live on campus. but damn, it seems stupid NOT to figure out some way (find housing, money for the semester, etc) to get this worked out so i can graduate with a major in creative writing. screw the english major if it ends up i can only get one or the other (not sure if the creative writing classes would also count for the extra classes for english major and if the english classes would count for the extra classes for the creative writing major). seriously, fucking screw the english degree, if i can get a creative writing degree. you know? i went to governor's school, i was there for CREATIVE WRITING. it really is my life, my "one true love" or whatever cheesy and silly and stupid name you want to tag onto it. it's my heart, my life. not this academic english literature crap. sorry to those english majors out there, i'm not saying it's not important or worthwhile or anything, but if i have the choice between the two, i'd always, always, always choose creative writing. i'll always choose creative writing over any area of study to be perfectly honest. it's such a huge part of who i am as a person, as a being, i can't escape it, and i can't imagine me ever wanting to, ever.

and i proposed it to my mom just a little while ago, and she's supportive of the idea. but we have no more money to put into my education, meaning spring semester, so it would be all me, or whatever scholarship or grant or whatever i could find to pay for the term. so i've got to do some major researching. like find out how the creative writing major is broken down, and i can't seem to find that anywhere on salem's website. still poking through it though, hopefully i'll end up finding it soon. so yeah.

creative writing major, cww
