Well have got my 10 victims volunteers my usability experiment. Will have to do more indepth (i.e. actually look at the results) analysis but it highlighted a few areas where the usability was not intuative (read: everybody had problems doing it) and raised some interesting points about interpretation (read: community standards issue not tech issue). The questionnaire results also revealed interesting splits on whether people thought they would add/reference to a store of the information while ability seems to have had little effect on how easy people found the software to use with the general feeling seeming to be a bit confusing to start with but then simple.
Given it was a very exploratory baby experiment (4 non-fanboys, 1 fanboy, 2 non-fangirls, 3 fangirls), one fatal crash, one null pointer and a few unfortunate bugs - I think I am quite pleased with the results.
Now just to write it up and make the rest of the changes.
Have been trying to work on I, Danni recently, mainly because it is the only thing I can work on on the laptop I am borrowing from
kludge. However having got Owlie working with a new hard drive and fan I actually got to play with my Watcherverse fic for a while. Given how long it has been since I worked on it most of my 'spend an afternoon writing' was spend reading it and reminding myself what I had written. Decided that possibly a few sections needed to be rearranged so spent the rest of the afternoon trying to set up a master document with the many, many, many sections that the fic is currently in. What I have learnt from this is 1. it is going to be a looong story and 2. beta sooo going to be necessary. Still it was nice to play with my watcherverse muses again.
Also went to visit parents which was fun - they have new toy, a mike with sound distortion hardware. Very funny but distictly distracting when your voice is coming out as Darth Vader or a smerf or in a chorus or standing in a cathedral etc.
