I've confessed to Faith. Now I'm going to confess to this in public. Without shame, because I've finally learned to accept my innate geekness.
I like Star Trek. I went to a Star Trek convention when I was 11. I dragged my mother there. I still have about twenty-five of the novels. I think they're hidden under my bed 'cause I was too embarrassed to put them on my bookshelf.
But no more. Now I am happy with my textuality and I don't care who knows it.
First fanfic I ever wrote, aged .. under ten, or something? Spock/Saavik. With lots of Doctor McCoy (because he was a GOD) and quite a bit of Chekov/Sulu. All platonic, obviously, but I'm sure if I hadn't deleted it all there'd be more than a dash of slashy subtext.
(I also wrote a Man From Uncle story in which Illya Kuryakin pulled a blatant Mary Sue. I was just sick of Napoleon Solo getting all the action when he was nowhere near as worthy as Illya. Blonde, Russian, adorable, what wasn't to like? Erm, now that I think about it, it's quite blatantly Napoleon/Illya, isn't it? But I ramble.)
I also like Blake's 7. I like to think I was named after one of the characters. But alas, my name was simply a compromise because my dad hated the name 'Jenny.' I still have a hugely embarrassing crush on Paul Darrow. I will ship Avon/Servalan til I die.
....I think I'll stop now, without mentioning Mara Jade and the Star Wars books that I nicked from my school library. I'm sure if I reread them, she'd be like, Mary Sue Supreme or something - but when I last read them? She was God.
*kills self*
*with spoon*
*revives self to add the following*: all you people who think Spock is a deity? I think you'll find that that honour goes to Sarek. Mmm. Give me some of that foul temper, oh YES!
*dies again*
