cats and their condition

Minerva is aware that there are things, things which are not alive, that make noise. Televisions make noise. Radios make noise. The CD player, before it became a useless hunk of junk. All of these things were large enough--at least as large as a cat--that they were entitled to make as much noise as a cat.

Telephones also make noise. However, since they are smaller than cats, they are not supposed to make as much noise as televisions and radios and similar objects.

Following this line of reasoning (if we can call it that, given that she is a cat), my telephone should not suddenly begin emitting the sound of Moby's "South Side", to be follwed shortly after by a series of divas sharing their versions of "O Mio Babbino Caro" It's not big enough to make that kind of noise, clearly. She was most alarmed.

In other news, Jemmy was seized and his claws were clipped. During this process, he placed his left forepaw (the free one) over his right one (the one undergoing the manicure right at that moment). If we anthropomorphized the beasts around here (the management thanks you for your efforts to keep from laughing out loud), I would say it was in a protective manner. But that would be silly, wouldn't it?
