Black Friday

I am an American, and on Black Friday, we shop.

So, I went to the grocery store.

I bought collard greens, and a couple of pears, and a couple of oranges. I did not buy the package show in the image behind the cut, although I was struck by the labeling.

Now, when I was a wee tot, these were referred to as chicken feet, not paws; I always thought paws were a mammalian feature, and not one that all mammals shared, since some have feet called hooves, and some have feet called paws, paws being soft and flexible and all that Birds, however, have feet, which in the case of raptors might be called talons.

Going by the labeling shown here, though, chicken are now considered to have paws. Who knew?

(If you can't see what I"m talking about, check the lower left-hand corner of the package.)
