lunchtime conversation

This morning, stringwoman took me to work so she could use my car to run errands, since she has today off. She picked me up at noon, and when I ran her home, I fixed and ate a couple of tomato sandwiches, since the tomatoes I got in the bargain produce bin at Harris-Teeter yesterday aren't going to be long for this world.

As I was sitting on the couch eating these, Jemmy came by to investigate, and discovered that there was a globlet of mayonnaise on the plate. He dealt with this in even less than a trice, and while he was sitting licking his chops, explained to me that the sandwiches I was eating would be ever so much better with more mayonnaise and less (to be exact, none) tomato. This took a while, because so much chop-licking was going on (mayonnaise seems to produce this result, even if he is very careful not to get any on his fur or whiskers) that his conversation was pretty disjointed. While he was still in mid-lecture, Bob came wandering in, and began licking his chops. I don't know if this is because the sight of Jemmy was so very suggestive, or if he had managed to nom on something especially delightful himself. We shall never know, because Bob's pretty reticent, at least with the monkeys, and I'm not likely to able to get close enough to him to check his breath for tuna.

This evening, I must resolve the cauliflower dilemma, caused by three heads of broccoflower from HT's clearance produce yesterday, plus a purple head and a yellow-orange one from Kroger (10 for $10!) as well. There's a curry recipe, though, and we have cheese sauce as well. Brandied cherries are in the near future as well.
