There are lots of upsides to living without steady access to the internet. My life is overflowing with interaction with some amazing people, but I do miss having an actual journal where I can go back and see what exactly I was doing at such and such point.
This weekend has been one of the more surreal I've ever encountered. Friday the snow started to come down and my house hosted an acoustic music show that brought more people than there have ever been in Quaker House...well into Quaker House. Tom, Dan and I played a set of songs. It sounded really good, at least folks tell us so. We've not held up our end of the goal to put together a CD for benefit sale, but at least we've got a pretty tight sound and Tom has played enough in front of people to be able to sing and play his own songs. I had to split from the show to go see Henry Rollins perform who was predictably awful.
But fortunately we had the key to escape his patriarchy. It involved setting up a hardcore show outside in the blizzard and running power in through a window. Then we rocked. And rocked. And threw snow and tried to chase Henry to get him to perform with us, but no....he was off on his tour bus being lame.
Saturday was spent making breakfast until 1. Then there was another acoustic music party and frolic time in the snow with frisbees and housemates. Unfortunately I had to leave for my concert. I had been planning a Cincinnati music show for a good while and last night was when it happened, but along the way it was cancelled due to a level 3 snow emergency, then uncancelled an hour later when the snow cleared. Then one band got stuck and cancelled and me and my trainee ended up setting up the whole show, which started an hour and a half late, and then rocking out to some excellent music.
The downside was that due to the massive amounts of snow and bad timing, everyone was elsewhere, at one point the audience outnumbered the performers but I don't think that they ever outumbered the performers and the sound crew. But everyone had a blast dispite the disappointment. Then I went home.
This morning I've been grouchy and ||got a call from my mom that my grandma broke her shoulder. She's fine, she's tough and on a lot of drugs.
