Posted so I can remember this for some of my students! Wish I had the melody.
From the Fiddle-L list:
Subject: Pat Burton's song "Fiddle Faddle", with Benny Martin and John Hartford
To: FIDDLE-L@listserv.brown.edu
This song, Fiddle Faddle, is on a Flying
Fish lp titled "Slumberin' on the Cumberland".
here's the words:
Its so easy to play on the fiddle,
there's practically nothing to know.
You push on the strings with your left hand,
your right one is left for the bow.
You can play a simple song or a hard one,
the melody's easy to hear.
If its sharp, flat, or Scruggs don't you worry,
move your fingers just a little bit.
chorus:
With bow on the strings you pull or you push.
Your face is contorted in a frown.
Your left hand will find all the notes you need;
it either goes up or goes down.
If try and try a lot and nothing happens;
the time that you practice seems long;
if a screechy squawky sound you're still hearing;
then try again, you're doing something wrong.
repeat chorus.
