Hands

Until last year, I never appreciated what incredibly useful things hands were. They pick up heavy loads, cut paper, write letters, play fiddle, loads of things. Nearly a year ago, my hands began to stop doing some of those things without pain, and now do fewer things than they used to do. I can't make a fist, for example, and though I'd never have thought that would be useful, I'm reminded every day of how often I'd use that particular skill. I've just been remembering how nice it used to be before I even knew that it could hurt to do all the normal everyday things. Rather wish I could go back to the way it used to be. Now I'm wondering how much longer I'll be able to play fiddle. I try to cope, to not complain, but it's getting worse and I don't like this new uncharted territory. grrr.
