You're not going to believe what she did this time. Amber called me yesterday afternoon ( Read more... )

As long as I've already exhausted the time that I would have been doing other things today, I might as well rattle on a bit, here.

First call I received, this morning, told me that items for which I'd have to travel a 20 mile round trip and spend money will not be in stock until late next month. So, with all the free time, my activities were rather random all morning and most of the afternoon.

Another call I received says the drugstore has one of my prescriptions ready, and I should go pick it up. Then, later, I have a dinner engagement way over on the opposite side of the city. However, at the moment, I'm in between being too late to accomplish much between now and when my Suzy gets home, and the next departure time for me. Sue is also invited to the event, however, she said the folks there are two generations behind us and she would rather sit here and play her computer games. Same ones that I posted photos of, a few days ago.

But, back to you. Being way over here on the outside looking in, and having an enormous amount of experience with real life, I saw some things in your story that you may be too close to see.

First an example: Back about '65, I received a phone call from a woman whose apartment I had visited, socially, a few times. She cooed at me on the phone and asked me to come over.

Delighted. I'll be there in a little while.

What I did was gather up a half-a-dozen neighbor kids, having asked them if they wanted to go for a ride in my company (new) car, and visit a friend over on the east side. They were, of course, enthusiastic.

We entered her little apartment with all sorts of jubilance, and occupied the space where she had pulled her "Murphy" bed down from the wall, had it all made smooth, next to the table that had candles and wine. We didn't stay long, only stopped in to say "Hi."

Your Amber contacted you saying she was getting off of work early, which was implied to be a rare event. She wanted to spend a little time with you. A beer. How much farther than that her aspirations may have extended remains a mystery, however, whether or not she might have wanted to visit your place with you, my guess is that she was definitely intending to have you all to herself, with her being the one (no matter how much you may have 'benefited') to 'make the rules.'

An old addeage says: "Two's company. Three's a crowd."

You asked her to meet you somewhere (perfectly legitimate but not from her point of view, depending upon what her hopes may have been) where you were going to be with a fellow who is your friend. In other words, competition for your attention which she probably hoped to monopolize.

She called saying she was "stuck in traffic" (any excuse would do) which I surmise was the equivalent of a rebuttal to your previous commitment which would have made it a "party" instead of a "date."

Her not having time for you tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that, ad infinitum is simply an extension of her intention to be the one who makes the rules. She apparently likes you (even if it is only to play a game of 'control,') or she wouldn't have 'asked you out.'

You have to fly your own airplane through the storm, but, stay on God's RADAR so you don't hit anything, okay? Don't get yourself killed over the chick. Simply enjoy having survived the absurd adventure that she had caused.

Have a good day.

This "game of control" is not much fun to play, and does not encourage me to spend my time with her.

Thanks for the perspective. I can tell she likes me too, but she is so weird about it. Why can't we just fuck and get it over with?
