Here's the #1 item on my shipper wish-list:

I do not want Rose to come back, as you say. What I do want is some sort of...epilogue showing Rose and alt!Ten briefly (not involved enough that it actually ends up Jossing anyone's fic--unless said fic is one of those ones where Rose is a bitch and alt!Ten runs off with alt!Martha; those can be Jossed with extreme prejudice!). You know all those gorgeous fics where alt!Ten feels...something...feels the regeneration, and tells Rose about it and tells her that the Doctor is okay. That's it. Oh, and they should smooch :D

Narratively, this could actually serve the regeneration storyline, which needs to have a lot of elements that reassure viewers, that ease them in to the transition, that make them remember the former Doctor fondly while exciting them for the possibility of the new Doctor. Rose has always been the stand-in for "us", and to have alt!Ten tell her that the Doctor is okay as Eleven, it effectively tells us that the Doctor is okay as Eleven. And it allows us to have a moment to ( ... )

Agreed on this. I don't think we need or want any more crossing between universes, but it would be nice if we could see Rose and alt!Ten happy together. Just a glimpse.

You know, I honestly do see this as within the realm of possibility. RTD seems to have such great affection for Tennant, and the character of Ten, that I think he would be very tempted by the idea of reminding us that Ten is still out there in some form. It was his original idea for 10.5, after all. He just did it early.

Ultimately, it would come down to whether or not they could get Piper. If they could, he might think the idea as squee-worthy as we do. And if they can't, he'll probably still try to find another way to remind us that they're out there somewhere.
