SPN FIC - Legend (Part Five: Sam and Dean)

I'd heard whispered bits of the story since I was a kid. Just after Halloween, back in '83, the demon Azazel had crept into the nursery of a baby boy, intending to drip blood into the child's mouth and turn him into demon spawn. But Mary Campbell was waiting for him. She had a gun a stranger had brought to her family ten years before: a gun that ( Read more... )

It's a short one! And Sam is (and always has been) good!Sam in this AU, so you might like it.

My doctorly advice would be to set aside a few minutes each day for yourself! Take a short walk, listen to a couple of your favorite songs, take a shower or bath with some nice-smelling soap, or read a short fic. It will work wonders! Then you'll have much more energy to tackle everything else.

*hugs*

Ahhh, more goodness. I had to adjust my brain to remember that it's AU, but happening in the present.

Thank you! I just felt like I had to give our boys a moment of brotherly closeness. Time for Sammy to take care of Dean...

Yay! Finally got the chance to read all 5 parts - don't recall having read the first one back in 2010 - and I'm loving it so far! Love the first person POV's, love the fact that it's AU and everyone is still alive (so far), and I love how even in this AU, where the boys are living separate lives, they're still as close as ever.

Looking forward to seeing where this is going!

First person...can be a dog and a half. It's tough to make the voices distinct, unless it's somebody very spot-on, like Bobby. So I think I'm going to stick to Sam for the first person narration in this, except for a final bookend with Jo.

I wanted very much for the boys to be close (emotionally if not locationally) in this - unlike WIAWSNB, where they didn't speak "except on holidays." Thought that might help appease the people who are kind of fed up with assbutt!Sam, and help us all remember why we loved Sam in the first place!

And yep, everybody's alive right now, except for Azazel. And I'm trying to figure out who else I can resurrect!

Glad you're enjoying it - more coming tomorrow!

I officially love this version of Sammy. Trying to take care of Dean because he remembers Dean taking care of him when they were kids; accommodating Dean's quirks and compromising in an effort to keep his brother as grounded as possible while he's working through what it is that's freaking him out so badly. Guh. This is the Sam I've been missing for a while now. Nice to see him here. Resurrected in a way, like the other deceased characters!

I keep reading posts and comments that say, "Oh, Sam was a jerk right from the get-go!" But I remember a Sam who delighted in prank wars with Dean. Who turned over every rock trying to find a way out of Dean's deal. Who smiled fondly when Dean went running after the big pretzel in "Monster Movie." There was so much in the first couple of seasons that said Sam *loved* his brother, even if they didn't quite speak the same language and was sometimes frustrated and/or embarrassed by Dean's behavior. I figured THAT Sam needed to come back into the limelight!

And, I loved the idea of Sam (and Jess) looking after flu-ridden Dean while he hacked and sneezed and huddled in his sleeping bag on their floor.

Glad you agree. ;)
