A while back, kjfri asked for this: the follow-up to We All Fall Down, with the boys recovering from my version of the Apocalypse, at the Lodge. She got married recently, which seems like a good reason to look at the ways love begins with friendship, and affection, and a desire to help the other person Get some rest.

You're very welcome! I've had that bunny written down in my notebook for ages, but nothing quite clicked in my head. Then, I started thinking yesterday that I needed to do something with Dean and Morgan, and you had mentioned your wedding, and I thought, "Hey - isn't it kjfri who wanted that "recovering at the Lodge" story? So...there ya go!

I'm delighted that you enjoyed it! And I'll look forward to seeing the pictures. :)

This is great insight to Dean's feelings. I love that Morgan knows instinctively what Dean needs.

I think Show had something close to the mark, with Lisa just gathered Dean into her arms to comfort him. But they hadn't built up the relationship quite enough for it to play out properly. (I'm hoping they'll mend that when S6 opens.) In the meantime...yes, the poor guy needs someone who understands that he needs a little comfort, a little compassion, just to "get some rest" for a while.

You know what, this is more what I would have liked to see at the end of season 5. No offence to any of the SN writers, but I believe in Dean and Morgan more than I believe in Dean and Lisa. And I think it would have been much better if Dean had been taken by Michael, and then he and Sam had just been left when the angels left the building.

But meh. Kripke likes his cliffies!

In this story I feel like Dean could actually settle for 'normal' simply because Sam is there with him. Even if we don't actually see him. I just don't think he'd do that with Sam in Hell.

So thanks for this AU ending to season 5!

I wish they'd let the story play out the way it *wanted* to play out - starting with the original concept for S3. This season - they needed to have Lucifer-Sam face Michael-Dean. Really! I've found so many times, both as a writer, and as a reader/audience, that if you try to force a story in a direction that's not organic, you just create a mess. *sighs*

But yes. We need to see that resolution to the last couple of years. Give the boys a chance to rest, then rebuild their relationship on somewhat solid ground.
