An unexpectedly quiet afternoon -- and the chance to grab hold of a bunny I've been tinkering with for a while now. A nearly-empty road late at night, a speeding Impala, and a sheriff's deputy on her way to ... who knows where.
She's got no jurisdiction here, a long way south of Hibbing, no legitimate reason for stopping that car, no matter how

I just love how you wrote this glimpse of Dean on his way to surrender, just about at his lowest point. The fact that we, the reader, know why "go with God" is the least helpful thing to say...
Your muse has really fired up--you are getting these turned out at an unbelievable clip!

I originally just had Kathleen remembering Dean, and poking around on the Internet. But then I thought, hey, he was in Minnesota, and she's in Minnesota, so let's just put 'em together. It made a neat little idea for a story.
Glad you enjoyed it!

This somehow doesn't hurt as much as the 5.22 tags lately, probably because we know he was stopped that time. Still, the tension and despair is practically tangible. Beautiful.

Love the perspective in this - not just the outsider POV on Dean, but also the perspective of a non-hunter, but not a non-combatant. Can you imagine what the Apocalypse would be like for the emergency services? And I love that she's savvy enough to know something's going on and that Dean's smack in the middle of it.
Great stuff!

I wish Show had had a better handle on how the Apocalypse played out - they ignored it so much that we didn't get a solid idea of how the world was being affected. But I figured emergency services would be strained to their limit, with a lot of their number falling victim to demons (and natural disasters). That gave me a good excuse for putting Kathleen out on the road, because Hibbing's quite a ways north of Blue Earth.
Glad you enjoyed it - it was a fun way to while away the afternoon!
