Title: Suffering
Fandom: Supernatural
Recipient: vail_kagami
Summary: Hell isn't just in Sam's head anymore.
Notes: Written (finally!) for vail_kagami, who is not only an awesome writer but the wonderful person who won me in the help_japan auction. And here is her gift, at long last. It is, as is to be expected, full of pain and h/c and also Cas and Sam interaction, but of the ( Read more... )

Ouch. That's a painful possibility in every sense. I love that a kind of ruthless realism is something that Sam and Cas have in common, that lets them understand each other, and that it has its part to play in sort-of-for-a-while saving Sam along with Dean's never giving up even if he needs buckets of denial approach.

Again I just have to say how succintly you manage to say everything I grope around a whole fic looking for. It is marvelous, and probably what makes you such a great writer. This, exactly; I think Cas and Sam have a lot in common in a lot of ways, but I also don't think that alone would work.

I love this comment (and the fic) so much. Sam and Castiel are willing to try anything that may be pragmatically useful; nothing is off limits. That gets them both into trouble. Here Cas understands what Sam needs; in Show, Sam understands what Cas has done.

What a fantastic story! It was well worth the wait.

I love that you filled the prompt from Dean's pov - Dean's pov on hurt Sam is my favourite pov ever.

The scene in which they had to break Sam's arm broke my heart. His pain and their dilemma felt so real. It makes sense for Cas to be the one to go through with it, though.

It was creepy how calm, almost detatched Sam was about having his arm ripped off. He's definitely been in Hell too long. (And still managed to save Dean's ass!)

And thank you for ending it on a vaguely hopeful note!

I'm glad you think so! Because Jesus, what a long wait. I AM SO SORRY. Maybe I will write you the other one too, just to make up for it. Dean's POV on hurt!Sam is also my favorite, and I'm glad you enjoy it too. (Really I think we just have the same taste in things.)

I was debating on whether it was going to be Cas or not? And I decided I thought it needed to be. Because I think Cas would understand almost better than anyone. In some ways. If that makes sense.

Yes! Sam being weirdly detached about terrible things is one of my favorite tropes, particularly at this point. I think that would be something that would happen, post-Hell; nothing really would get to you anymore. Not physically, anyway. (And yes, he was still a badass. Oh Sam.)

I KNOW. HOW DID I EVEN DO THAT.

In short, I'm glad you liked it! As I am always delighted with everything you come out with.

Heh. To be perfectly honest, I had almost given up hope of this ever being written. And that would have been fine, too - I know you're busy - but I'm so glad you did it, because it's seriously awesome!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH. THE SHOW IS GOING TO DEAL WITH THE AFTERMATH OF THE WALL FALLING AND I WILL BE UNIMPRESSED BECAUSE IT WON'T BE NEARLY THIS AWESOME. LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE.

Haha anyways, this was kind of beautiful. And I kind of love that Cas is the one to help, because I think that he and Sam have so much in common, and that what the show doesn't show is that Cas does (or did) in fact care about Sam. And he would do anything for Sam, same as he would for Dean. And I kind of liked his almost ruthless approach - he kept going because he thought it would help, and it did. It was just kind of horrible in the first place. And Dean is perfectly in character, making denial a lifestyle the way he always does. And Sam, poor broken Sam who always comes through, who gets up and somehow manages to keep going no matter what life throw at him. Basically this was awesome and I love it and YAY ^_^

...:D? I am only a little bit sorry. Or maybe not at all.

Yesss, your first little bit there. Cas totally care(s, d) and I just think that they have so much in common it probably kind of confuses Cas a little, and makes him a little nervous sometimes, I suspect. And yes, Cas definitely, as we have seen, has that ruthlessness in him; here he uses it for Good.

I'm glad you liked it! Note the semi-hopeful ending. :D JUST FOR YOU.

....That...was rough. I felt a little sick at the bone-breaking part. But beautifully done and original, though very hard to take...

I um. Aim to please? ...:D?

You should probably take him away from me now, I end up doing such terrible things when I have him around.
