Summary: Written for Porn Battle prompt tattoos.  Olivia Dunham has some questions about the X-Files.  She takes a trip to VA and gets more than she bargained for.

Olivia, who three hours ago was a perfect stranger, is mapping a warm, wet trail of kisses across Scully's back. The contact is enough to make her eyes flutter closed, the intimacy as unfamiliar to her as peace of mind.

She tenses when Olivia hesitates, but then begins to trace a distinctive pattern with deft flicks of her tongue. Scully can still feel an additional tenderness to the skin there, though it healed years ago. The tattoo isn't something she spends a lot of time staring at in the mirror, though she'll catch it in a glance sometimes, a reminder of past mistakes and the sacrifices she's made to be here; to still be alive.

Scully rolls over, the better to avoid unpleasant thoughts, and to kiss Olivia on the mouth once more. That's a habit she could take great pleasure in forming, and she already feels the spark of addiction flaring deep in her chest.

"Mmm, Dana. I'm so glad I came to Virginia."

They didn't spend long discussing the 'X designation' cases that Olivia had come in search of; there hadn't seemed much point once Scully broke the news that Mulder had been missing for three years. Like an atrophied muscle, Scully had forced some social skills through the haze of her solitude, inviting the tall blonde agent to stay for coffee.

Sometime after the mugs had been drained, Olivia had tried to say goodbye. The kiss seemed to take them both by surprise, and Olivia's murmured explanations did little to clarify.

Olivia bends a certain way and Scully catches sight of the tattoo on the back of her neck - vibrant and fresh with its black and red inks. She traces her fingers over it, surprised when Olivia recoils.

"Regrets?" Scully asks, and she wonders for a fleeting moment if the design isn't to cover a scar like her own. Could Olivia be another victim of cruel experimentation? A cold fear grips Scully, and she fervently hopes not, even offering up a silent prayer that her guess is wrong.

"It uh, it sort of belongs to someone else. You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

Scully pulls her new lover closer, trying to control the smirk that's pulling at her lips.

"You'd be surprised at the crap I can believe, Liv."

The nickname is an accident, but it feels good as it hovers in the air between them.

"We can talk later. I don't wanna talk," Olivia confesses, and there's determination in that gravelly voice.

Scully's inclined to agree-- she can find conversation anywhere. What she can't find elsewhere is the sensation of Olivia's attentive mouth homing in on her already hardened nipples, or the strong fingers that caress their way along Scully's sensitive inner thigh until they're stroking through copious wetness, provoking quiet moans that Scully doesn't want to fight. She doesn't want to be quiet, this doesn't have to be off the radar; she's no longer in hiding from anyone.

Except herself, sometimes.

She feels a little self-conscious--rusty, even--at having anyone in her bed after these long years of being alone, but it's surprisingly easy to turn her enthusiasm into movements that make Olivia cry out as their bodies press together, fingers thrusting in delicious counterpoint until one after the other they come. Scully delights in her own ragged breathing, the tightness in her chest that accompanies the fireworks behind her eyes. She feels human for the first time in too long.

"When do you have to go back to Boston?" Scully asks, worried that the question alone will send Olivia's warmth scurrying from under the sheets.

"Not until Monday. Depends on what I find here." There's teasing in Olivia's tone, and Scully sees a lightness in her features that wasn't there three hours ago.

"I think we can keep you occupied."
