Title: Lay Me Down (And Tell Me Everything Will Be Alright)
Author eoryndal
Rating: pg-13 (more like pg-15 tbh)
Pairing: SuKai
Disclaimer: Inspired by
this cheesy beautiful song by Sleeping With Sirens which is also where I got the fic title and cut text from.
Summary: Well, this was supposed to be a fluffy, sleepy-pillow-talk drabble except, ahem, I got carried away at the end and ruined its innocence a little. (This has to suffice as a summary because honestly there isn't much plot to summarize. (SuKai cuddling during a thunderstorm.))
A/N: This was a late birthday present for my
precious_0ne, partner in crime, Baekhyun to my Chanyeol. And bunny mother to lots of my SuKai plot bunnies :P
It was one of their rare days off but a raging thunderstorm outside kept them in the dorms. When Jongin woke up, it was still as dark as night outside, the gloom only disrupted by too bright flashes of lightning cracking across the sky. He trudged into the kitchen to grab a bowl of rice, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
On his way, he was greeted by Baekhyun at the door who was taking his shoes on and grinned at him way to energetically for such a dreary day.
"I'm going to M's dorm!" he announced happily and was out of the door before Jongin could so much as open his mouth for a reply. He grunted.
In the living room, he stopped for a moment to throw a confused look at the writhing and giggling mass of limbs on the couch but then he decided he cared more about what kinds of banchan were left in the fridge.
"But it's dangerous to have the tv on during thunderst- aack!" Kyungsoo's voice cut off with a squeak, followed by Chanyeol's booming laughter and Sehun's weird ahaha-noises. Jongin tried to peel his eyes open wide enough to pick up some soy bean sprouts with his chopsticks. Chewing sluggishly and ignoring the sound of pouring rain outside, he decided to go back to bed for a few more hours. The weather was too nasty to go outside anyway.
When he passed by Sehun and Joonmyun's room, he suddenly noticed that he hadn't seen Joonmyun at all. Maybe he was still in bed. He opened the door a crack and peeked into the dim room and, indeed, there he was, all bundled up in his blankets that he had a habit of pulling up to his ears. Unbeknown to himself, there was a smile playing on his lips as he watched his hyung sleeping soundly through the window-rattling thunderstorm. It was good to see their hard-working leader getting some badly needed rest.
But when he tip-toed into the room, closing the door behind him, Joonmyun stirred and lifted his head a little.
"Hyung," Jongin whispered.
"Jonginnie?"
"Hyung, can I sleep with you?" Later, Jongin would blame his boldness on his sleep-muddled brain but truth was that there was nothing he'd rather do than crawl under Joonmyun's warm blanket and snuggle.
"Are you afraid of the thunderstorm?" Joonmyun teased as he held up one edge of the blanket for Jongin and in that moment, a bolt of lightning turned the room white for a second, followed by such a sudden, loud crack of thunder that it made Jongin jump. Joonmyun chuckled at how easily the younger was startled. "Seems like I need to have a word with Jongdae later."
Jongin pouted at the lame joke but he crawled in next to Joonmyun and pulled the blanket around him, carefully so he didn't steal Joonmyun's part and leave him in the cold. "No, I just want to be with you," he mumbled, sleepiness returning fully as he melted into the cozy, almost stifling warmth. As Joonmyun cooed at him, he tried not to feel embarrassed but his cheeks heated up and he pressed his face into Joonmyun's shoulder.
Stupid Joonmyun was the only one who slept in an oversized t-shirt instead of a wife beater (okay, Baekhyun did too, and possibly Wu Fan, but they didn't count) and Jongin had better plans than to nuzzle a cotton sleeve. He shifted and sneaked an arm around Joonmyun's stomach to pull him closer so he could press the cold tip of his nose into his neck.
He tried to calm the swirly, fluttery feeling in his chest and go back to sleep, curling fully around Joonmyun's body until there was no space left between them and their combined body heat glowed like a radiator. Joonmyun's deep, regular breathing lulled him in until the storm outside was just background noise that couldn't reach them.
There were words in his mind and on the tip of his tongue urging him to say them but he hesitated so long that he wasn't sure if Joonmyun hadn't fallen back asleep already. The words wouldn't let him rest though, looping in his head like a song on repeat. Maybe they were being naive. Maybe they wouldn't get out of this unscathed. Maybe two, five, ten years down the line things would change.
But maybe sometimes you had to put your heart on the line.
"Hyung..." Jongin whispered quietly and Joonmyun hummed and ran his fingers down Jongin's bare arm until he threaded them through his fingers that were sprawled across Joonmyun's stomach, guiding his hand up to his chest to let Jongin feel the beating of his heart.
"Hyung," Jongin started again, a bit breathless as his own heart rate picked up speed. "One day, when Exo is over, I want to be with you for real."
Joonmyun turned around to look at Jongin, their heads just a few centimeters apart on the pillow, Joonmyun's eyes awake and full of wonder as though Jongin had promised him the whole world.
A bolt of lightning lit up the room and revealed the flushed red of Jongin's cheeks and the deep brown of his hopeful eyes. Overcome with feelings, Joonmyun stroked a soft hand over his cheek and leaned in to press a kiss on his lips. Right in that moment, the accompanying thunder rumbled through the air, echoing until it trailed off in the far distance. Joonmyun couldn't help snorting at Nature's sense of drama.
"You taste like kongnamul," he said then and licked his lips.
"Yeah, well, and you have morning breath," Jongin retorted sulkily but then he kissed Joonmyun again. "I'll just have to share my taste."
Joonmyun agreed and dug his fingers into Jongin's hair, tilting his head for a better angle. Between the sensual kisses they passed back and forth between their lips, he pressed his whole body against Jongin's and said cheekily. "But you're making me hungry."
"Hyung!" Jongin protested, squeezed his fists between their bodies to push Joonmyun away and turned his back to him, wallowing in embarrassment. Joonmyun chuckled at him and moulded his body against his back, letting him feel that he was half hard. Jongin couldn't help the way his breath sped up as Joonmyun ran a hand down his side and slid it between his legs to massage his inner thigh. He doubted the rushing in his ears was from the sound of the rain outside.
He wanted. Wanted to let his body arch and push his hips back against Joonmyun's, to let out the moans he was stifling between closed lips. But he knew they couldn't. The door wasn't locked. There was too much at stake.
"Don't," Jongin managed to gasp. He didn't want Joonmyun to stop and he didn't want to wait any more but they were always like this. One had to stay responsible when the other allowed himself to get carried away. "They're in the living room."
Joonmyun sighed and nodded, pressing kisses to the heated, sensitive skin stretching over Jongin's shoulder blades. The hand between his legs stilled but he didn't take it away. Instead, he pressed against the inside of his thigh, pulling at his leg so that Jongin opened his legs first and then, when he finally got the drift, rolled on his back.
Joonmyun climbed over him to settle between his legs, hovering above him on knees and elbows. The younger tried to hold Joonmyun's direct gaze but it spoke silently of all the things he wanted to do and Jongin had to avert his eyes as the heat crawling over his skin became too much. But Joonmyun cupped his face and guided it back gently but firmly so Jongin could read everything in his eyes as he lowered his body slowly on Jongin's. When their hips brushed, he was there to seal the sound of Jongin's moan with his lips, then lowered his head to rest against Jongin's chest. Jongin clasped his shaking arms around Joonmyun's waist and concentrated on breathing until the spike of arousal faded to a constant but manageable throbbing.
"With a little luck and a good excuse, we can still pass this off as cuddling because of the thunderstorm," Joonmyun said as he pressed a little kiss to Jongin's collarbone.
"More than a little luck," Jongin groaned but felt his lips pull into a smile. "But the thunder is already a lot quieter. There goes our excuse." Stubbornly, he hugged Joonmyun tighter despite his words, sending a new wave of heat through both of them.
"Let's just fall asleep quickly. If anybody comes in and sees us, we can say we fell asleep during the thunderstorm and didn't notice it passed already."
"How am I supposed to rest like this?" Jongin tangled one of his legs with Joonmyun's for emphasis. He didn't think his heartbeat would calm down enough for him to even close his eyes as long Joonmyun was pressed against him, heavy and just as heated as him.
Joonmyun slid his hands to the back of Jongin's neck and linked his fingers securely. When he spoke next, his words sounded like a promise that encompassed so much more than this moment.
"We'll be alright."
