you make it sound like life is going to be so easy and you are just going to be able to do whatever you want and be comfortable doing it. thats not the way its going to go. and your "if i cant write novels..." plan... havent seen you working on that one so much. its great in theory but what i dont understand is your unwillingness to work hard for whatever you want. if writing is all you want, go for it. but damn... put in the work to get there. i think youd be an excellent music reviewer, but you havent really tried to get your foot in the door anywhere. no internships, no writing jobs, nothing outside of school is not going to get you far. hell, im as romantic as anyone, and yeah its ideal to just sit and write all day and be successful, but im a realist too, and things just dont happen like that. maybe you forgot what it was like, but i remember when i was poor and had no idea if i had a meal for that night and couldnt buy new shoes when my old ones were falling apart at the seams. i will never let myself get like that again-- i want more for myself, and im really fucking sorry thats so hard for you to unserstand why working toward that is so important. all i want is success for me and you and us together, and i wanted that to be a common goal, but apparently it isnt. and im not a fascist because i work.
