Ryou liked his music loud. As a quiet boy by nature, the simple fact that he enjoyed turning on his stereo and setting it to the highest volume, and making the sound waves reverberate off the walls was surprising to many.
The pale haired boy liked nothing better than to flip through his collection of CDs, turn one on, crank the volume, and lay on his bed, fully absorbed in the noise.
It was his way of dispelling the silence around him. He hated the silence. It reminded him too well of his loneliness.
Ryou’s darkness, however, was very fond of silence. As one who was accustomed to the noise surrounding chaos and destruction, it never failed to surprise Ryou that his darkness preferred to sit in their room, with the shades drawn, and complete quiet filtering past his ears.
Dark Bakura especially enjoyed the silence at night, as the moon filtered through the curtains. The less noise, the better. For the silence was a welcome distraction from the screaming. Faceless voices, lifted in screams of torment. They came from the items, and they were his kin, demanding retribution.
So while Ryou wanted noise and Bakura wanted silence, they had managed a compromise.
Late at night, as Ryou bit his lip to keep from screaming, his darkness would give him all the noise he wanted. Late at night, as sweat soaked bangs were pushed from jade eyes, Bakura would compose a delicious concerto of moans and whispers. Late at night, as slender fingers dug into pale flesh, Ryou would hold his tongue, not uttering a single sound.
And they both reveled in the quiet piece that followed the strangled cries. Both enjoying the silent noise.
