I can always tell when I've had a bad week because I spend WAY too much money. In the past fornight I have bought:
A dress (gorgeous, yet simple) to wear at my mother's wedding. My sister wouldn't class it as expensive but I do.
A sterling silver pendant for a necklace (first time I've spent money on jewelery in something like three years) - It was a lizard, I had to have it.
Some stupid plug-into-the-tv game from a mail order catalogue - No idea why I bought that one
Around $60 worth of books from Amazon.co.uk - because I'm now addicted to manga and Aus doesn't stock it with any sort of depenablity.
A blackberry pda/mobile phone - because I nearly bought a Nintendo DS Lite, then thought to myself "If i'm going to spend that kind of money I ought to buy a pda.", which was supposed to stop me from spending the money at all, but instead led to me buying a blackberry off ebay (brand new).
And my dad asked me to order him some stuff from ThinkGeek and get something for myself too. I only got a USD$7 t-shirt but I still felt guilty when I put through the order that added up to USD$120. (Exchange rates hurt)
Then, this morning, I had to talk myself out of buying the $175 DVD set of my new fave. anime series that I found. That's when I realised just how much money I've spent. This is bad.
The stupid thing is that I'm buying all of this because work is stressing me out. They keep calling me in to start my shifts earlier, finnish later or come in for a whole new shift when I had something else to do. It doesn't sound like much but for the past fortnight I've gotten nothing done because all my plans are getting canceled to go into work. It's frustating and it keeps building up. Stupidly though, I've been coping by telling myself that at least my pay slip will have a nice big number on it, but the stress of it all is making spend so much money that my coping mechanism is now void. *headdesk*
So today was my 'don't buy things day'. I wore the fruit dress (a dress that my sister and I share to wear on cruddy days when we need cheering up), I cleaned like a mad thing - the house is still a mess though, and I listened to a whole lot of anime theme songs on the internet. Anime music is surprisingly calming, even the fun, peppy stuff.
Which brings me to my question. What do you do to have a happy, stress free day (apart from retail therapy)?
anime,
work,
stress,
money
