It's hard to screw up lj comments. Posts, yes, comments, no. And anyway, it worked!
Firstly, thank you very much for commenting, particularly since you're not a citizen of lj! I assume you found this fic via tumblr - it seems to have been floating around recently. If not, do let me know how you found it. I'd be very interested to know.
Secondly, I'm sorry you had to go through this, I'm glad you're feeling better, and I hope you continue to feel better. It's always slightly odd when I get a comment from someone who identifies with this story, because a) I wrote it pretty much purely about me and b) the only research I did for this fic was via Wikipedia, which was useless, as described in the story. In a way, all these responses are validating my own feelings, which is really reassuring, and I assume it works both ways. It's that old cliché "you're not alone". So if my fic spoke to you, then rest assured that your comment touched me, too.
And finally, I'm glad you love the last line. It only appeared on the fifth draft! Originally the fic just ended on 'See you on the other side of the internet melting!' and then there were a couple of drafts with song lyrics at the end, and I was really struggling because I needed a sort of conclusion that wasn't an ending, and then I realised that I'd gone to all the trouble of setting it at Christmas and then not used Christmas lights. Sounds obvious now, but it was a breakthrough then.
