sortinghatdrabs and seeing the banner below when I got up this morning completely made my day! :)
Harry awoke when a thin beam of sunlight touched his face through a slit in the bed hangings. He blinked sleepily, realizing he was in his four-poster at Hogwarts. Voldemort was dead, and judging by the light, he had slept for almost a day.
Harry got out of bed and dressed quietly, not wishing to disturb anyone else. Several additional four-posters had appeared in the dormitory since he went to sleep, and all of the hangings were still closed.
Harry crept down to the Common Room, which was deserted, and made his way outside. In daylight, he could see the extent of the castle's damage and it saddened him to see the first place he called home in such desolate condition. The sun glinting off the lake looked peaceful, though, so Harry walked towards it.
Harry found Luna leaning against a rock, watching the lake. He gestured to the spot beside her and raised his eyebrows. Luna nodded, and Harry sat down. They watched the lake together, not talking.
After awhile, Harry said, "Thanks for the blibbering humdinger yesterday."
"No problem, Harry. Blibbering humdingers are very good about showing up when they're needed."
"Yeah. Er . . ."
“Part of being a hero is knowing when you don't need to be one anymore.”
"What?"
"You defeated Voldemort. Now you can do whatever you want, Harry. But remember, getting up every morning and facing whatever the day may bring sometimes requires more heroism than anything."
Harry thought about Lupin, Tonks, Fred . . . Teddy would need his godfather. As his adopted family, the Weasleys needed him, too. He hoped Ginny needed him. He couldn't wait any longer-he had to talk to her.
Harry gave Luna a quick sideways hug, stood up, and walked back to the castle.
