Natsume Yuujinchou - Finding Home
Finding Home by darkcyan. On a school trip, between one moment and the next, Tanuma's teacher and about half of his classmates disappear. Everyone must figure out how to deal with this changed world, and the new dangers it has brought with it. Meanwhile, Tanuma wants to believe that Natsume was not one of those who disappeared that day ... but if not, where is he?

This is apocalypitic fic in a weird way in that the first half is quite depressing, but once everyone is reunited, it actually becomes quite hopeful. There are some amazing character moments and revelations of all of Natsume's secrets eventually. Darkcyan brings in a lot of characters you only saw once or twice and it's nice to revisit them. I think the second half of the fic is almost a completely different tone to the first half but it's worth reading the whole thing. My preference would have been more of an explanation of what is one of the most unique apocalyptic events I've ever read, but it's a small flaw in an otherwise excellent fic. Now that it's complete, you don't have to suffer waiting for a new chapter like I did;)
