Drabble, originally untitled, now: "Attitude"
For open_on_sunday challenge of "Beauty"
AU in which Dawn went to live with her Dad post-"The Gift"
As her father brings in her luggage, she politely but coldly says, “Thank you, Hank.”
He regards her disappointedly. “You know, you could call me Dad.”
She counters harshly, “You know, I could go jump off a bridge.”
He’s looking at her with shock and worry, and she’s picturing Buffy’s swan dive, beautiful and poised in its tumultuousness. She knows hers could never be the same, and wonders if she’d even go to the same place.
She shrugs passively and adds, “Doesn’t mean I’m gonna.”
He sighs as she walks away from him, wondering if he could ever fix this.
