Drabble, Titled: "Faith Lands"
For open_on_sunday challenge of "Fall"
Following Willow back to Sunnydale feels like a dangerous leap into an unwelcoming abyss.
She finds herself thinking of something she remembers her father saying when she was young, from the few remaining memories of her father: “It’s not the fall that kills you - it’s the landing.” He told it like it was a joke.
It’s not a joke to her now. The car ride is the most agonizing wait she’s experienced. She’s falling, she’s flailing, she’s waiting for the pain to start when they pass that ‘Welcome to Sunnydale’ sign.
When it comes, somehow she lands on both feet.
