"Cad a fheiceann sí i dom? " he muttered to no one in particular, shaking his head in bewilderment.
"What did you say, Angel?" Cordy asked.
"I was just wondering what you see in me."
She smiled. "I see a man willing to do whatever it takes to make me happy. I see a man who always thinks of others, putting himself last because he thinks he doesn't deserve to be happy, doesn't think anyone could ever love him after all the things he's done."
"Well, how could--" Angel started before Cordy stopped him, placing a single finger over his lips.
"I know everything you did, Angel. And it doesn't matter. It's all in your past."
"But how could you possibly think that? Are you sure you remember what I did?"
"Yes, you didn't care who you hurt as long as you got what you wanted. You were evil, pure and simple." He nodded, looking down. "But Angel," she waited for him to look at her once more. "You were a different man back then."
"Cordy--"
But she continued on as if he hadn't said a word. "And that's not the man I fell in love with. The man I fell in love with would do anything for me. He loves me when I'm critical, sad or angry or when I'm silly, amusing or loving. Angel, I couldn't ask for a more devoted man."
He smiled that smile he got whenever something she'd said touched his heart. "Is breá liom tú le mo chroí go léir," he told her.
"Forever?"
"And always," he whispered, pressing his lips to hers in the gentlest of kisses as the world outside their small home continued on at its usual hectic pace.
