Hi there! It was explained in the epilogue (in a passing) the reason that they broke up right before the end of the epilogue: Jensen told him how the only reason he’d ended anything in the first place was because things were moving so fast and he got scared, thought he wasn’t what Jared needed at the time and ended it all before it came crashing down on him. Jared spent at least ten minutes berating him on how stupid that was, but he understood too. Back then they were young -it may have only been seven months ago but you’d be surprised at how much you can age in that time- everything was so simple for Jared that it never occurred to him to think about how Jensen was coping with any of it.

The facebook status thing is harder to explain than I thought, but in a general answer it was sort of a symbol for the fact that in Jensen's mind, they'd already broken up.
