Okay. I follow a lot of people on tumblr because they make pretty supernatural graphics. But most of these people are also verryyyy pro-Cas and really into Destiel. Which, okay. I am not a hater. I like Cas, I LOVE Misha, and I can see the appeal of Destiel (even if I don't ship it because an Angel is...an Angel. Not a sexual being. And the thought of Cas in a sexual situation just makes me go :|). I'm telling you this because there are SO MANY posts on my tumblr dash right now about last night's episode, about how it broke people and they loved it and then there are some about how they like the show now, so sue them.
And here's the thing. I don't want to tell anyone that they can't like something, that's not what I'm trying to do. But here, in the safety of my own journal, I'm going to say this: the show is BAD now. You can't deny that! You can't! You can still enjoy it and acknowledge that the quality of the writing/producing/directing/cinematography/nearly everything (I'm personally excepting acting) has gone wayyyyy down hill. Last night's episode was not good television! Again, doesn't mean you didn't enjoy it. But here's why it's bad: the internal logic has completely broken down. Where there used to be clear motivation for (nearly) everything the boys did, (nearly) ever plot point, now there is just pure manipulation. Last night's episode was pure audience manipulation. They wrote it to give us a break-up scene between SamnDean and Cas when it was COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. Why didn't Cas just plain SAY to the boys that Raphael was going to restart the apocalypse? This is not a rhetorical question, I really want to know if I'm missing something? Instead of just saying to trust him? If Cas had actually explained, EVEN A LITTLE BIT, there would have been no fight! Dean would have immediately been on board, or at least not hated Cas and helped him find another way to fight Raphael.
Also, if all they need is souls, why doesn't Crowley just USE THE SOULS HE ALREADY HAS? Those poor guys are getting tortured down in Hell, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help fuel/fight a war? I really don't understand how Heaven/Hell operate and I don't think the writers do either?
Just, none of it makes sense! And if you're just here for the pretty, if you're just here for the Dean/Cas, if you're just here for the boys, then fine. But I'm not. That's the truth. I'll keep watching because I love this show too goddamn much and I love these fucking people too goddamn much, but the truth is... what used to be an amazing creative feat, has turned into generic, soap opera-y...crap.
And I really want to stop being made to feel bad or feel like a hater for feeling this way.
