“Sorry, Mother.” The boy’s response was dull, flat, emotionless…just like it should be to avoid her wrath. But today the little boy wasn’t lucky, today he was a failure, and the slap landed forcefully to the side of his face. It burned, then stung.
“Get out of my sight, Aaron” the woman growled.
He ran up to his room, shut the door, and went to his coin collection.
