You can now go here and change your birthday display options to show: do not display, display only month and day, diplay only the year, or display month, day, and year.
So, you can add in your year, and show it to no one if you're concerned about that.
And - just so you know - 'do not display' is the default. So if you want folks to know your birthday, you must turn it on.
