Trying to make sense of it all.

I've learned a long time ago that Gossip Girl isn't going to make any narrative sense until it's over. I feel like they have this general plan and are slowly getting there. Blair's label is weakling, and in my opinion and something she has canon-admitted she is weakest with Chuck. Her main story seems to be revolved around what makes her happy.  We know her happiness is tied with Dan (4x17-It's canon), while her unhappiness is tied to Chuck (4-22, that's canon too). I don't get how any narrative sense can be made with a Chuck/Blair endgame. I know people like to be all CB are endgame, there is no other way, but I'm looking at it from what canon has told me and all canon has ever told us is yes, CB love each other, there is no denying that, but they don't and will not ever work together.

I just think that they are prolonging DB because they know they have to destroy them if they place them together in season 5, but Dan/Blair's happiness is tied with each other. Other than Blair/Serena being alone and choosing each other, DB seems to be the only endgame narrative that makes sense with storyline. While Chuck's storyline seems to be accepting the consequences he has made and learning to live with them, that includes losing Blair.

One of the biggest things this season was role reversal. I wonder if the finale is going to be role reversal between Dan/Blair. Everyone assumes Dan is going to tell Blair he loves her. I always wondered if the point of 5x01 was that Blair wasn't ready to hear I love you from Dan, while Dan was becoming aware of his feelings. I wonder if in the finale Blair is going to become aware of her feelings, while Dan isn't going to be ready to hear it probably because he is banging Serena or something, creating a clear role reversal and extending their story to season 6.

Yes, it's long. Yes, it's annoying that they haven't dared to dair yet. But in a way they are daring to dair. They could of dropped the storyline. They could of had Dan's love be an infatuation, but no they are continuously showing Dan's perspective as Blair being someone he truly loves. The second half of the season may focus on Blair/Dan friendship and proving that they are their best selves together. But I'm starting to think that the reason they haven't trended on romantic waters is because it makes no sense to solve their labels this season if their is a season 6. What would be the story lines for next year?
