Notes/Warnings: omg I wrote something?! Recent chapters begged for some Kensei/Mashiro, amirite? I love them so very much.
We're safe, somehow. I never thought we'd make it out of there in one piece.
Kensei breathed a sigh of relief. He turned toward Mashiro, who was biting her lip pathetically, looking as if she were about to cry.
"What's wrong with you, idiot? We're safe now."
"My...scarf," she whimpered dramatically, gesturing to her bare neck. "It's gone."
"Figures you would get upset about something like that, and yet you didn't bat an eye when we were sentenced to death in Soul Society."
"Kensei..."
"Eh?"
"You're smiling."
"I am not."
"Are too."
"I'm not getting involved in this discussion with you again. Let's find the others."

"Take off that damn scarf. And those stupid glasses. You're a vice-captain now. You're supposed to set an example."
"But Kensei~. I can't take them off! They're the key to my power."
"..."

"Kensei!" Mashiro shouted, as soon as he entered the little house that they and the rest of their comrades were inhabiting for the time being, "Where have you been all day?!"
"I found this in a store," he responded, shoving a package into her lap. "Maybe now you'll stop whining all the time."
"It's orange," she responded flatly, once she had unwrapped the package. Kensei's face fell a little. "I love it! Now I'll look like a real superhero!"
Beaming, she wrapped the new scarf loosely around her neck and stood, posing heroically. Or stupidly, in Kensei's opinion. Still, he couldn't help but smile a little.
"And won't it go great with these?!" she gushed, donning a pair of tacky goggles. "I'll be unstoppable!"
Kensei's only response was the sound of his palm meeting his forehead.
