Title: Hula Hoop
Rating: PG
Summary: Hurley finds something on the beach.
A/N: Just a short little fic for my friend Jen who gave me this prompt: Lost, Jin, Hula Hoop, GO!

Jin stared at Hurley in confusion, frowning as he tried to decipher what his friend was saying to him. He was holding a round pink object in his hands, and he seemed to want Jin to do something with it, but he was apparently missing the connection.
"Hula hoop," Hurley repeated, stretching the words out as far as they would go. Jin just continued to stare at him, obviously not understanding. He sighed. "Look, man, I can't demonstrate, alright? It's too small. It'll never go around my waist."
            "Hula hoop?" Jin asked.
Hurley smiled. "Yes! Yes! Hula hoop!"
Jin frowned. "Throw?" he asked as he mimed throwing the object across the beach.
            Hurley's face fell.
"No, man. You put it around your waist and then you…" He wiggled his hips. "swing it around like this."
Seeing that his friend still wasn't understanding, Hurley sighed and looked around. He was determined to find some way to explain the art of hula hooping to Jin. Excitement had flooded through him when he found it in the wreckage of the hatch, and he had thought it would be hilarious to see people trying to use it. Unfortunately, Jin just wasn't understanding.
His eyes landed on someone walking toward them and his face lit up again.
"Sawyer!" he called. "Dude, come here!"
"What do you want, Jabba?" he asked as he walked over to them.
            "I found a hula hoop!"
"Well yippee-kai-yay for you. So what?"
"I need you to show Jin how to use it."
"What? No way. You show him."
"It's too small for me, man. Please. Just think of how funny it will be to see Jin use it."
Sawyer sighed and looked around, making sure that there was no one else who could see them. Then he stuck his hand out toward Hurley.
"Fine. Give it to me." He stepped into the hula hoop and looked pointedly at Jin. "See? You step in." He pulled it up around his waist. "And then you hold it up here. Then you have to give it a big spin," He spun it around. "and shake your hips like this." He gyrated his hips and made the hula hoop spin around them, inwardly pleased that he could keep it going for so long.
Jin watched the entire exchange with amusement. When Hurley had first shown him the hula hoop, he had known immediately what his big friend wanted. He was hoping to get Hurley to try the hula hoop himself, knowing that the result would be hilarious. But the appearance of Sawyer had been an added bonus, and it was taking every ounce of his self-restraint to keep from bursting into gales of laughter.
When the hula hoop finally fell to the sand, he nodded his head sagely, as though he had just been shown something new and wonderful. Inwardly he shrugged - it was their own fault for assuming that they didn't have hula hoops in Korea.
"Ah," he said slowly. "Hula hoop."
