Charlie touched the hull of the ship and raised his eyebrows, impressed. He wasn't sure the boat was going to work, especially after the first one burned down. He didn't think they'd be able to find enough materials to rebuild it. Jamming his hands into his pockets, he walked slowly around it, examining the bamboo - still freshly cut and green - and the twine made from jungle materials that held the boat together. He wondered how sturdy it would be; how secure they really were on it? Charlie trusted Michael's abilities to draw an idea that seemed plausible. He took a shower every few days in a system designed by the man.

But a whole boat? Charlie raised a finger, touching the rudder, which lay on the ground at the back of the raft. They hadn't attached it yet, were leaving it for last? How did you not even test the rudder before sailing, Charlie wondered. He didn't know much about boating, but he knew that was the most important part - if you couldn't steer, you were no good.

"No! Don't touch that!" Jin shouted in Korean. He watched Charlie shoot into the air like a startled cat, his eyes widening and whipping around to find him rushing up from behind. Jin threw him a sympathetic smile and pointed at the rudder and shook his head and his finger, watching Charlie nod his head.

"No touching the important boat parts, got it. But do you have to be so sodding loud about it?" Charlie laughed and watched Jin raise his eyebrows and give a sigh. "Be much easier if you could speak English," Charlie lamented.

"It'd be easier if you spoke Korean," Jin responded with a shake of his head.

"Hey!" Charlie slapped the other man's shoulder triumphantly. "Wanna go fishing?" Charlie put his hands up to his cheeks and waved them while puckering his lips. "Fish?"

"Fish," Jin understood, nodding, pointing at the ocean and then rubbing his belly. "Yeah, sure moron, we'll go fishing," he added with an enthusiastic smile.

"Great!" Charlie exclaimed. "'Cause I'm starved."

He followed Jin out past the farthest rocks he'd ever been to and watched Jin kick off his shoes and step into the water. He waved an arm, beckoning Charlie to follow. Charlie fumbled along the rocks underneath the ocean's surface and splashed up water.

"Stop that!" Jin shouted, watching as the other man froze and raised his eyebrows at him, seeming to understand that he was making too much commotion. "You need to become part of the water, so the fish are unafraid to swim by you." He dropped his arms into the water and relaxed, taking a long breath.

"Yeah - wax on; wax off - got it." Charlie dunked his arms into the water and watched the small animals that scurried along the coral he stood on. "So, there, um, aren't things that bite in here. I mean. I kind of favor my toes and fingers and all my other parts currently in the water, within biting distance from… whatever's in here."

Jin felt a fish swim through his hands and he touched it gently, letting his forefinger rub along the body as it went.

Charlie stood straight up and pointed. "You just let it go, why'd you let it go?"

Shaking his head, Jin took another long breath and let another fish swim through, nodding his head to Charlie, who put his hands back in the water. Charlie watched the Korean man close his eyes and he did the same, feeling a fish peck at his finger. "Relax and wait," Jin instructed.

"Patience, Padawan, the force is with you," Charlie responded and hummed the familiar theme. Jin chuckled, understanding.

Jin opened his eyes and watched Charlies fingers hang limp in the water, watched the fish that swam through, some rubbing along the way, but Charlie waited. The fourth fish slowed and rested between his hands and Jin whispered, "Now."

Charlie grabbed and the fish struggled as it came out of the water in the blonde man's hands. Charlie jumped out of the water, hooting as he showed the fish to Jin who laughed at him. Running towards the shore, Charlie was sure not to let his grip on the fish loosen any and he showed the fish off to Jack who passed.

"I caught a fish!" He displayed. "With my bare hands!" The fish gave a wiggle.

"That's good, Charlie," Jack told him with a nod and a smirk.

Turning, towards Jin, who slipped his shoes back on, Charlie frowned. "Well, aren't you going to catch any fish?"

Jin stood and grabbed Charlie's shoulder, giving him a shake. "I must work on the boat now." He pointed towards the raft that lay several yards away. "Boat."

"Oh, yeah, boat." He watched Jin walk away and then shouted, "Hey, Jin! Want some of my fish?"

Jin shook his head with a laugh. "You caught it, share it with your family." He thought a moment. "Claire." He paused, thinking and then brought his arms together in a cradle gesture. "Baby."

“Baby can’t eat fish,” Charlie told him with a grin. “Come on, you helped me catch; you help me eat!” He tried to gesture, but couldn’t find the right motions to convey what he was trying to say.

Jin shook his head, still grinning. “You,” he pointed, “eat fish,” he motioned to his mouth, “with Claire.”

“What, like a romantic diner?” He put a thumb up in the air.

“Man wants to catch a fish; I show him how to catch a fish. Now I can’t get rid of man. Americans.” Jin clenched his teeth and walked away from Charlie, knowing eventually he’d get the hint. Eventually, he realized with a touch of sadness, he did.
