Thought I'd Never Call?
Adam stared at the phone in his hand. He didn't know what to do. He knew he should call. He knew Alisan was waiting to hear from him. And Kris and Katy. And pretty much everyone. But he didn't want to do anything yet.
Instead, he lay on the bed and stared up at the ceiling wishing things were different. Wishing he could come to terms with all the twists and turns his life had taken.
He was back. He was home. So why did his heart feel so far away?
He picked up the phone, and slowly, dialed.
"Hello?" Alisan said on the other end, sounding busy with a million things.
"Hey..." Adam sighed.
"Adam?! Holy shit. Where have you been?!"
"Didn't think I'd call, did you?" he asked, smiling sadly.
Then, he poured himself another drink.
