The North Carolina beach house looked like something out of a movie, and Allison was the first one inside, determined to claim her room before the best one was taken over.

"I got this one with the boys!" she yelled, thundering back down the stairs for her bags. "I left my hat there, so no one even think about taking it!" she threatened.

Anoop snickered. "Your mom's gonna kick your ass when you get back..."

"Shut up, Anoop," she shot back. "I got the blue room."

"What? I'm a guy, right? According to you, I could stay in there."

Allison was hanging half-out of the back of the SUV she came in, trying to get her bag before anybody else.

"You are not stayin' with the boys," Lil told her plainly.

"I'm not staying with Anoop," Allison amended. "He's a jerk."

"You can stay with me," Adam offered pleasantly. He was running on his last bit of positive energy before he crashed.

Yanking her bag free, she grinned at Adam and raised her eyebrows at Lil. "You, me and Kris?" she asked hopefully. "It can be a Group Two room."

"Cool with me," Adam agreed.

"Seriously?" Megan asked, coming up alongside Adam. "You can't let her stay in a room with you and Kris!"

"Why the hell not?" Adam asked, irritated now.

"Because! If my son wanted to spend four days at a beach house in a room with two girls, I would never allow it."

"Your son is two. I doubt he knows the difference between boys and girls." Adam pointed out dryly. "Allison is sixteen--"

"Exactly!" Lil and Megan chorused.

"Oh, whatever!" Kris chimed in, as if he'd been part of the conversation from the start. "She doesn't care. We're like brothers and sisters," he jumped down from the back, bag in hand.

"Allison, you are not doin' this!" Michael was insisting, walking inside, following her disembodied voice.

"There's an odd number!" she yelled from deeper inside.

"That's why we're splitting three and three, and two and two," he added.

"Me and you. Right, Sarver?" Danny asked, grinning. "'Cause I don't think I'd do very well, with like, a bunch of roommates."

"You have six billion brothers and sisters back home," Matt quipped, slapping Danny on the back.

"Shut up!" he called back, laughing.

"Allison Iraheta," Scott called, admirably calm. "You are a girl, you're sleeping with the girls." He made his way in the house, with Lil at his side.

"Damn it..." she pouted. "But Lil, Megan and I still get this room! It has dangling shell bead things in the doorway!"

"Oh, God, Anoop. I'm so glad you're parents let us use this house," Megan sighed, dropping down onto one worn comfortable couch and closing her eyes.

"What can I say? I have the best parents," he shrugged. "And the best part is, the kitchen's already stocked."

"Praise the Lord, I could eat a horse right about now..." Michael groaned.

"If you eat 'em, you'll never see 'em wild on the beach. And trust me, you'll want to," Anoop said, his eyes shining. "It's one of the coolest things ever."

--

"I don't know, dude... I don't think I can abide a room like this..." Michael hesitated. He hadn't even put his bag down on a bed yet, because he was too busy gawking at the deep red walls.

"I I can," Kris sighed, falling back onto his own bed, which had a perfect view of the ocean out the window.

"Red is the color of passion, Michael. Aren't you passionate about this place?" Adam asked him, excitement back in his voice at having found this glorious room for himself, Kris, and a third roommate, who turned out to be Michael.

"I'd prefer to be passionate about the beach in the white room."

"That room looks as sterile and boring as a padded cell," Adam pointed out.

"You'd know about padded cells, dude," Anoop called. "Come check out the green room. It's the best. Bunk beds!"

"How perfect," Michael remarked, a smile tugging at the edges of his mouth. "Bunk beds for the college boys..."
