“Three hours,” Mori said. “Three hours and he could have kept on going if Akira hadn’t distracted him.” He sat down on the steps and rested his head on his knees. “I think my ears are bleeding.”
“I never knew he was so obsessed by it,” Sakurai said as he walked out of the clubroom. He slumped down next to Mori. Uchimora sat down next to them and started banging his head against Sakurai’s shoulder. “I knew it was important to him - obviously - but a three hour lecture?”
Uchimora made a high squeaking noise. “And the wax… when he started talking about the wax, I… I can’t get it out of my mind…”
Inside the clubroom, there was a loud crashing noise and an undignified squawk, followed by Shinji’s incessant murmuring.
“And he’s still going at it,” Mori said, amazed. “Three hours and he’s still talking.”
Sakurai patted Uchimora on the head. Inside, he could hear Kamio and Tachibana trying to wrestle Shinji to the ground: they must have decided the only option was to gag him.
“Well, now we know,” said Mori as they all stood to leave. “Never, ever ask Shinji why hair care is important.”
