So folks have been worried about the lack of fills in the meme.

Sometimes memes fizzle out, sometimes folks start to get busy at certain times, sometimes when there's no new canon or a show's on hiatus there's a lull. I know this can be frustrating but I want to remind everyone that prompt posts are only for prompts and fills. Not about how

Ideas for getting more fills

I think what's wrong is that people aren't seeing the prompts they want to write for.

Tumblr and fafiction.net are still crawling with fics. But the meme isn't. Those other two forums for fafiction aren't prompted, meaning that the authors can write whatever the hell they want.

So, I think we should encourage prompters to try to fill their own prompts. I understand how it feels when you prompt a great idea, and then want to write it yourself, but don't, because that would seem foolish for some reason. We should try to break that mentality down.

Also, as a suggestion, we could more actively link the meme to tumblr and fanfiction.net and archive of our own, and other places. Spread prompts around the internet, and ecourage that other stories be posted here.

Would anyone be opposed to an 'unprompted fills' post? It would certainly attract more writers. It removes the pressure of living up to a prompt and its expectations, and just let's a potential writer do their thing, and receive feedback. I know that sounds like a copout, but it's worth a shot.

Another idea. Perhaps we could allow for 'community formed prompts' or something like that. I realize that that's pretty much discussion- but if a whole bunch of people come together to shape an idea, and then all help to write it, it would also increase activity.

But as for right now, the easiest way to increase activity without making changes is to just boost our presence in other places of fanfiction- especially tumblr.

There are two places where the prompts are being independently cataloged already. Neither has seemed to have changed the amount of fills coming in.

What I meant by tumblr was that we need independent bloggers to advertise the meme themselves. If you're writing a fill for here, put it up on your tumblr too. If you're an active member, don't forget to tell your followers. If you see a prompt you like, make a post about it. Those kinds of things.

Great idea, I just mentioned the meme on my tumblr and if I see any specific prompts I like (that I'm not too embarrassed to de-anon for) I'll post them as well.
