It was an accident.
She never meant for it to go this far. It was not her intention to start needing him as much as she evidently did. She never wanted him to haunt her dreams. She never wanted to have to choose between her best friend and her husband.
But it happened anyway.
And the part of her that believed in ‘till death do us part and keeping promises overruled her heart and broke two in the process. She was completely at fault here, and it was tearing her apart.
You see, there was a line she had drawn when she moved in with him; one that was firmly between them. But, without ever even realizing it, she crossed that line. It had dawned on her, that (disastrous) night she had drinks with Dubenko, what she had done and that had been the beginning of the end.
So she sat in the cab, no longer able to hold back her tears, consumed by guilt. Heart wrenching, soul consuming guilt. And she tried desperately to figure out where exactly she had gone wrong and what she could do to fix it, if she even could.
Because she felt very much like fading away right now, and this time there wasn’t even a shirt with his smell to keep her grounded.
