part 1 ||
part 2Kazuya looked around the room with an uninterested face. He was at the gala; it was hosted by his family's company. His lack of interest in his family business didn’t bother his family much. The deal was that he had to join every time their company hosted an event. His parents and his brother had spoiled him so much. They didn’t force Kazuya to join them at the company after he finished high school. They let him do what he wanted with his life. Of course sometime they nagged at him about his lifeless life -most of it about his lack of love life, meaning the lack of girlfriend or boyfriend-. Thinking about a boyfriend made his empty mind wander to a certain idol. They hadn’t met again since the night Kazuya had kissed Jin's cheek. Both of them had busy days waiting for them for the past two weeks. They still texted like crazy and called each other every day though. Jin also had promised him that they will be hanging out again after he was finished with his busy schedule. The only thing that was different was that hanging out would be changed to a date.
“I asked you to kiss me, that means I like you!” Jin gave Kazuya his idiot grin again when Kazuya had asked him why it changed to a date, that night.
“Stupid heart! Beating so fast again!” Kazuya gulped his drink in one go.
“Hey, slow down a little, kiddo,” said a man.
“Are you talking to me?” Kazuya asked the man.
“There’s no one here that gulps a whole drink like you did now.” That man was being cheeky.
“I’m not a kiddo.” Kazuya said instead.
“You look like one to me. Cute and small.” The man held up his hand. “I’m Ikuta Toma by the way.”
Kazuya looked at the hand, pondering to shake it or ignore it. He decided to shake. He’s not a rude person! “Kamenashi Kazuya.”
“Is it true your company invited Akanishi Jin too?” Toma asked.
“Akanishi?” Kazuya says. “I don’t know. I’m not involved with this gala arrangement.”
‘Jin will be here? Why don’t I know anything and Koki didn’t tell me either.’ He thought and tried not to frown.
“Really? Hmm, I hope he’s here. It’s still early.”
“Why? Are you one of his fans?”
“No! I’m that idiot’s friend. Just want to confirm if the rumors were true or not.”
“What rumors?”
“That we have to find out.”
Thirty minutes after strolling down the hall, leaving Ikuta Toma flirting with some waitress, Kazuya decided to go home. He was sure the rumors that Jin was invited weren't true.
**********
“Urghhh!! I told him we didn't agree to do it!” Koki gripped the newspaper.
“Let it go, Koki. It’s just rumors. When they ask me, I’ll deny it, simple.”
“But they put an article about you and her on the front page!” Koki growled. “Akanishi Jin is dating Rina Kitagawa!” The letter was typed with bold letters and there was a photo of Jin and Rina attending the gala together. It was a big photo.
“Who is this Rina Kitagawa, anyway?” Jin looked at Koki. “I never heard of her until last week when they told me last minute that I had to go with her as my partner.”
“She’s a new singer. Chairman wanted to make a scandal between you and her to raise both parties' popularity.”
“More of wanting to raise her popularity it seems.” Jin rolled his eyes. “Whatever, as long as they don’t change my schedule for this scandal thing, it’s okay. I have a date this weekend.” Jin grinned, thinking about the date, he couldn’t wait for it to happen. And today he was meeting Kazuya for a lunch together.
“With Kazuya?”
“I’m not telling you!”
*****
Kazuya looked at the newspaper, his heart felt like it had been pierced by a knife. It hurt. So Jin was invited to the gala and no one mentioned this to him, not even Jin. What was this supposed to be? Were these two idols really dating? But Jin said he liked him and they were going to have a date this weekend.
Jin and him were going to have lunch together today. Was it because Jin wanted to explain about him and this girl? There were so many questions in Kazuya's head right now. He didn’t know what to think and what to do except take a deep shaky breath. Falling in love was hard, much more with a super idol.
“Haihh. It was just a work thing, Kazuya. No need to worry. You guys are going to have a date this weekend!” Kazuya said to himself. He was trying to convince himself and stop all the crazy thoughts and questions in his head. He believed Jin.
“Kazuya, Jin’s here!” Taguchi opened the back room door. “What’s wrong?” Taguchi puckered his eyebrows when he saw Kazuya’s troubled face. He looked at the newspaper. “That is just a work thing, Kazuya.”
“I know,” He muttered.
“Why don’t you ask him about it?” Taguchi smiled gently.
“Can I?” Kazuya looked at Taguchi with puppy dog eyes.
“Of course you can! Now throw that troubled face away. Jin is waiting outside.”
“Okay.” Kazuya smiled. They walked out together to the waiting Jin.
“Hey,” Jin greeted.
“Hey back,”
“Let’s go?”
“Yup.”
“Bye, Taguchi!” They both said.
“Byeeeee~”
******
“Where do you want to go?” Jin asked the younger one.
“Somewhere not extravagant, I hate eating at place like that.” Kazuya pouted.
“Haha, stop pouting!”
‘Should I ask him now?’ Kazuya thought
“Hey, Jin. What was it about you and the singer Rina? Also, I didn’t know you were invited to my family’s gala! I was there you know.”
“The gala last week?! You were there?! I didn’t know you were there!” Jin frowned. “There were last minute schedule arrangements. I was late that night!”
“What was it about you and the singer Rina?” Kazuya asked again.
“Hmm? What?” Jin looked around as he drove. “Hey, let’s eat at the classic place we went last week!” He pointed at the restaurant, ignoring Kazuya's question.
‘Is he ignoring my question on purpose?’ Kazuya felt again the pierce in his heart.
*******
They were supposed to have a dinner today and Kazuya was so determined to ask Jin about the Rina girl again. But it couldn’t happen because Jin had cancelled it. He claimed something last minute had been added to his schedule and he couldn’t cancel it.
******
The other week was also the same. After their second date, he and Jin rarely spent time together and now Jin was cancelling his dinner with Kazuya again. It had been three times Jin had done it, but Kazuya had been so understanding of Jin's busy schedule.
But now he didn’t know what to think anymore. On the newspaper front page, there were a couple of pictures of Jin and Rina Kitagawa going out together! One of them had her holding Jin’s hand when she was fixing her sandal. What was this? Kazuya look at all the photo. On the bottom of the photo has the date when it was taken.
Kazuya felt the tears that start to well in his eyes, every single date corresponded with the date Jin had cancelled their dinner and lunch together.
******
“If you’re not serious about this then tell me now so I won’t fall for it anymore.” Kazuya looked at Jin with sad eyes. “It’s hurts, Jin.”
“Kazuya, no!” Jin tried to take Kazuya's hand but Kazuya shook it off. “There’s nothing between her and I. Trust me!”
“I asked you many times, what is between you and her. But you ignored me every time I asked.”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I just didn’t think that it was important.” Jin apologized. He never thought his actions would hurt Kazuya so much. Every time Kazuya asked him about the rumors between Rina and him, he ignored it because he didn’t want to make Kazuya uncomfortable. But he didn’t know that he hurt Kazuya much more when he did that. If he knew telling Kazuya the truth would ease the younger one's hurt, he would’ve done it a long time ago. “I’m dating you! Not her!” Jin said firmly.
“But you cancelled our days together, and the next day I saw about you going out with her in the newspaper! Not one time, Jin.” Kazuya said. “What am I supposed to think, Jin? Who am I to you?” Kazuya asked Jin, tears threatening to pour out.
Jin tried to hug Kazuya, but when he resisted Jin called his name gently. “Kazuya, please.” He whispered. He watched a big tear fall followed by another. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” Jin hugged Kazuya.
“You’re the person I like and I’m pretty sure the person I love.” He kissed Kazuya's forehead. “I’m sorry I didn’t explain what was going on with me and the girl. But I will do it now.” Jin dragged Kazuya to the sofa, making the younger one sit on his lap.
“Kazuya look at me.” Jin palmed Kazuya's face. “Hey,” Kazuya looked up and what Jin saw made his heart clench. Sad teary eyes were looking back at him. He wiped the tears away. “The thing between me and that girl was my company's strategy to raise popularity. Koki refused to do it but it was the chairman’s decision, so we had to do it. I didn’t think it was a scandal every time we went out.” Kazuya shot him a glare at his words,
“I mean, I don’t think of her as anything!” Jin said quickly. “Not as my scandal and not even as a friend. Nothing. Every time I cancelled our day together was because the chairman messed up with my schedule. He set an appointment with me and her without telling me first, and I just knew about it last minute!”
“An appointment at the amusement park?” Kazuya raised his eyebrow.
“Koki and her manager were there too, you know. The chairman is the one who set it up! We didn’t even stay for a long time. We had a discussion, she wanted me to be in her music video but I refused. I don’t want it, and don’t even like her! Clingy girl and all.” Jin rolled his eyes. That made Kazuya laugh.
“There’s my lovely laugh.” Jin kissed Kazuya's cheek, making the younger one blush.
“So, there’s nothing between you and her?” Kazuya wanted to confirm.
“Nope! Nothing! I swear!” Jin raised his hand.
“So, you love me?” Kazuya asked with a little hesitant.
“Yes, I love you.” He gave Kazuya’s lips a peck.
“I love you too.” Kazuya said, blushing.
“Thank you for loving me.” Jin kissed Kazuya's forehead again. “About the rumors of me dating that girl, I’ll have a press conference soon to straighten everything.”
“Is it okay?” Kazuya looked at Jin with worried eyes. He wanted Jin to tell the world that he had nothing to do with that bitchy girl but he was worried about Jin's agency chairman. “The chairman-”
“I don’t give a fuck about the chairman.” Jin stopped Kazuya. “This had been going on for too long. I didn’t take this matter seriously before, but you’re hurt by it! And now I can see the girl starting to get bold by saying something that made people think the rumors are true!”
“Jin....” Kazuya felt touched at what Jin said. “You don’t have to curse, you know.” He said instead making Jin give him that stupid grin.
“I know!”
“I’m sleepy.” Kazuya rubbed his swollen eyes.
“Is that the way you’re saying you want to sleep here tonight?” Jin teased Kazuya.
“I’ll ask Taguchi to take me!” He tried to get up from Jin’s lap with a pout.
“I’m joking!” Jin laughed. “Sleep here tonight. Please?” Jin gave Kazuya puppy dogs eyes.
“Okay.” Kazuya gave Jin a blinding smile.
******
“You’re ready, Jin?” Koki asked. They were having a press conference today to clear the mess the chairman had made.
“Yup,” Jin said, still texting Kazuya.
Koki rolled his eyes. “I’m glad you guys are together now, and both of you are happy. But don’t shove it in my face! My Kazuya hardly spends time with me anymore!” Koki glared.
“MY KAZU!” Jin said, pointing at himself then continued texting Kazuya.
******
Kazuya watched the conference Jin had at home with Taguchi.
“I’m going to clear up the rumors that are flying around about me and the singer Rina Kitagawa.” Jin said. “Today, I’m going to confirm that I and Rina Kitagawa are not dating. Not ever and will never.” Jin declared.
“What do you think that started these rumors?” One of the reporters asked.
“It was planned by our agency’s chairman to raise both parties' popularity. But Akanishi had refused to do it, you can see it’s a pointless thing to do because Akanishi Jin is already popular and a successful singer and actor even without having a scandal with anyone.” Koki explained.
“So, are you saying the meet up between you and Rina Kitagawa was planned by the chairman?”
“Yes,” Jin said. “The chairman messed with my schedule. He set the appointment between me and her without telling me first,” Jin said calmly. “Now, I’ve cleared up this thing for you guys. I hope there are no more stories about me and her in any newspaper or magazine. It’s annoying you know! I don’t even know her or like her!” Jin rolled his eyes.
“But Akanishi-san, why is Rina Kitagawa acting and giving some remarks that made people think you both are together?”
“You said it yourself, acting. She’s a new singer and her popularity is still not stable, so why do you think she would do that.” Jin gave the camera a mocking smirk to make a point of his words.
“Man, Jin can be a bitch when he wants to be!” Taguchi said.
“Yup!”
******
The whole thing with Rina Kitagawa settled. There were no more rumors about Jin and her or anyone. That made Kazuya happy.
Now Jin and Kazuya could stroll down the street together without worries because Kazuya was used to the eyes and the flashing cameras, when they were together. There was also one clever reporter who captured his and Jin's photo together holding hand. Since that the only rumors that were going around the world was about Jin dating someone is… Akanishi Jin dating one of the Kamenashi’s heirs, Kamenashi Kazuya! And Kazuya had nothing against it. In fact he liked it, telling the world Jin was his.
“Baby, we made it to the front page again!” Jin told Kazuya.
“Really? Hahahaha look at your face there!” Kazuya laughed at the photo in the newspaper. It was a photo of him and Jin eating some ice cream. In that photo, Kazuya was laughing at Jin because of the smeared ice cream around Jin’s mouth, and Jin was pouting. The headlines read ‘The couple is happy together!’
“That is your entire fault! You pushed the ice cream when I was licking it!” Jin pouted with a playful glare.
“Who ask you to lick the ice cream sexily like you’re licking my-“ Kazuya stop his sentence suddenly, now realizing what he going to say, he blush furiously.
“Like licking your what, Kazuya?” Jin smirked. “Cock?”
“Jin!!”
*******
They were happy together. People around them were happy for them and Jin fans were happy for them too. They called them Akame and Jin's artist friends called them AkaKame. They also made fanfic about Jin and Kazuya. Kazuya had blushed furiously when he read some sexy scene in the fanfic. It was so erotic okay!
But lately there was something bothering Kazuya. He always felt like someone was watching him and he knew that person wasn’t Jin. He also felt like he had been followed by someone. He tried to shrug the feeling off, but he couldn't. Now he felt it again, making him stop his walk with Jin to look around behind him.
“What’s wrong, Kazu?” Jin looked confusedly at Kazuya.
“I feel like someone following us.” Kazuya said.
“Really? I don’t feel anything.” Jin frowned. “It’s okay, let’s go into that supermarket, okay? I will ask Koki to pick us up.” Jin put his arm around Kazuya and took one last look around them. He took out his cell phone to dial Koki's number.
“Can you come and pick us at the BigBig Supermarket? Ok, thanks. Call me when you’re here.”
When Koki arrived with Taguchi, Kazuya told them what he felt. Of course they were worried, especially Jin. He knew he had crazy fans and they like to follow Jin. But Kazuya said he didn’t think that one of Jin’s fans is the one that followed him.
“Do you want me to set up a bodyguard for you, Kazuya?” Jin asked.
“No! Maybe this is just my imagination. Maybe I’m still not used to your fans like I thought I am.” Kazuya smiled.
“Don’t worry ne!” He pecked Jin's cheek.
“Why don’t you tell Youjirou-nii?” Taguchi said.
“I don’t want to. He will set a bodyguard for me even if I say no!”
******
“The whole thing with Jin and Rina Kitagawa is over?” Ueda asked Koki. He, Koki and Taguchi were at Ueda’s house.
“Yup!”
“Jin and Kazuya?”
“Are together!” Koki and Taguchi said at the same time.
“Everything is alright now.” Ueda sighed.
“Not really.” Taguchi frowned.
“Hmm? What’s that?”
“Remember what Kazuya told us in the car before?”
“Yeah, about that!” Koki gasped. “Kazuya said he felt like someone had been watching him and following him all this time!” Koki told Ueda.
“Really? That’s dangerous!”
******
“Do it now.”
“Crash his car. I want him dead!”
******
Blood. Too much blood. Kazuya felt dizzy. His body was aching, and he couldn’t fucking move! Damn, it hurts! He heard so much noise outside the car.
Why so many voices?
Why does it hurt?
Why can’t I move.
Let me out of this damn car!
Is that an ambulance sound?
Then his world turned black.
******
Jin and Koki were at Jin's Tokyo Dome concert when Taguchi called Koki.
“What, Junno?” Koki said without a greeting.
“Koki! Koki, you have to come here now!” Taguchi said in panicked voice.
Koki's pose became alert when he heard Taguchi’s panicked voice. The grinning maniac never sounded this panicked before.
“What’s wrong?” He said walking to the corner of the stage, away from the other people in there.
“It’s Kazuya! Accident! We’re in ER now!”
“What?! Wait for me there! I’ll come with Jin.” Koki hung up the phone. He ran to Jin in a hurry.
“Jin! Jin! Let’s go!” Koki grabbed Jin who was having a discussion with the staff.
“Koki? What are you doing?” Jin tried to shake Koki off.
Koki stomped with panicked and angry eyes. “It’s Kazuya, idiot! Junno said there’s been an accident!”
Jin looked at Koki in shock. “What are you saying, Koki? Don’t joke about thing like this!” He yelled. Every single eye was on them now.
“I’m not joking! Kazuya’s in the emergency room now! Let’s go!” He ran to the exit door with Jin trailing behind him.
When they arrived at the hospital, there were lots of reporters outside. All of them rushed to Koki and Jin when they stepped out of the car. They ignored the reporters, running straight to the emergency room to see Taguchi.
“Taguchi!” Both of them shouted at the pacing man.
“Koki! Jin!”
“Where’s Kazu?!” Jin shook Taguchi's body.
“They are doing an operation now. There- There’s was a rod pierced through his thigh. He lost a lot of blood!”
Jin fell to his knees when he heard what Taguchi said. His Kazu. His loved one. “No .... No! No! No!” Jin punched the chair over and over again. “No!”
“Jin! Jin!” Koki tried to stop Jin. “Stop it! Hey! You need to be strong for Kazuya!” With Taguchi holding Jin's other hand, they put Jin on the chair.
“Tat-chan!” Taguchi yelled when he saw the man running toward them.
“Where’s Kazuya?” he asked breathless.
“They’re doing an operation. There was a rod piercing through his thigh.”
“What?!” Ueda sat beside Jin. “Is he okay?” He nodded at the lifeless Jin.
“He’s still in shock.” Taguchi said.
They waited and waited and waited. The operation still went on when Kazuya's family arrived. None of them dared to sleep. Two hours turned to six, six turned to eight, eight turned to ten and ten turned to twelve. Finally, the red light turn to green and a few doctors walked out of the operation room with exhausted faces. One of the doctors walked over to them.
“Doctor! How’s my son?” Kazuya’s dad asked.
The doctors looked at them one by one. Jin looked at the doctor back. He thought his heart might burst from the fast beating.
“Kamenashi Kazuya's operation was successful. The rod was taken out and the badly open wound was stitched.”
Everyone exhaled their breath they had been holding onto. Jin slumped in his chair and Koki slid down the wall to the floor.
“Twelve hours! Twelve fucking hours!” Koki shouted.
“Thank god!” Taguchi rubbed Koki's bald head.
Jin rubbed his tired face and laughed out loud. The other's followed his action. “When he’s awake I’m going to kiss him nonstop!”
“Keep the idea to yourself, idiot!” Kazuya’s father laughed.
********
Ueda gave Koki and Taguchi a sign, pointing to the corner of the room. Koki nodded his head.
“Me, Tat-chan and Junno are going to buy a coffee. Do you want anything?” Koki asked.
“Buy a lot of food and a white coffee for me!”
*******
“I think the accident was done on purpose.” Ueda said. “Remember when you guys told me Kazuya said he felt like he was being followed by someone?” Koki and Taguchi nodded their heads, still not saying anything. “I’m sure he’s the one who hit Kazuya's car.”
“You think the person wanted Kazuya dead?” Taguchi asked.
“Yes.”
“Oh my god! I’ll kill whoever he is!”
“I hired a bodyguard to watch Kazuya from afar.” Ueda looked at them.
“You did?” Taguchi was surprised.
“Yes, and he had been following Kazuya around since the day you told me about Kazuya's worries.”
“Did he know who was behind this fucking thing?!”
“I ordered him to capture the person that hit Kazuya's car. And I’ve been told that he has the man now.”
“Where?! Tell me you didn’t hand him to the police!”
“No, of course not.” He said.
“Good.” Taguchi growled. “Don’t hand him in. Not until I get my hands on his face.” Taguchi smirked. The demon was out, the always smiling Taguchi was giving them a smirk now.
“Just don’t tell Jin about what we are gonna do.”
********
“I can’t forgive you for what you did! For you trying take my loved one’s life is so unforgivable! Who do you think you are?! A god?! I totally despised you. Don’t let me see your face. I don’t know what I will do but I know it’s going to be hurtful.” Jin said to the camera.
“Jin... Hey, it’s okay.” Kazuya took Jin’s hand. Jin turned to Kazuya to kiss Kazuya's forehead in front of the camera.
Jin looked to the One night One celebrity host. They invited him to this show again after what happened to Kazuya.
“That’s all I want to say to the person that hurt my Kazu.” Jin smiled at them.
“What did you feel when Kamenashi-san was in the operation room, fighting for his life.” The host said.
“You know, I’m a man who thinks that it's hard to fall in love. I’ll admit I dated a lot. But falling in love? Never once until Kazuya.” Jin grinned. “I felt like everything stopped moving. On that day, before the accident happened, I was with him. We were laughing together, and made plans to meet during lunch at Tokyo Dome. Then suddenly, I’ve been told Kazuya was involved in an accident.” Jin took a deep breath. “Can you imagine what I felt? I blamed myself. There are a lot of what ifs. When I was waiting outside the room with the rest of them, the things that were going through my mind was that the accident would have never happened if I decided to go to Kazuya's place. I insisted on him coming to Tokyo Dome on that day because I wanted to show him my preparations!” Jin said.
“So you feel guilty.” The host nodded.
“Yes, I did and I still do.”
“How do you know that the accident was done on purpose?” The host asked Kazuya.
“When I was still in the hospital the police officer came and told me about it.”
“I heard that you didn’t demand anything from them.”
“No, I let the judge decided their punishment.” Kazuya smiled. “I don’t want anything to do with them anymore.”
*******
“Stop blaming yourself.” Kazuya rubbed Jin's cheek. After the interview, they went to Ueda’s house to have a gathering. They were sitting in the living room on the sofa while Ueda prepared the table. Koki and Taguchi were on the way.
“I almost lost you, Kazuya.” Jin said looking at Kazuya with sad eyes.
“It’s not your fault.” Kazuya pecked Jin’s lips.
“I know.”
******
“Let’s go Koki.” Taguchi said while cleaning his hands.
“Ok! We’re done now, mate.” Koki grinned. “You guys can take him to the cell now.” He said to the police officer who was his friend.
“I’m surprised that both of you didn’t kill him.” The officer said.
“Taguchi decided that killing him will lessen his suffering. He doesn’t want that.”
“Of course I don’t want that! I want him suffer in the prison for the rest of his life.” Taguchi smirked.
“Right. Let’s go! They’re waiting for us at Tat-chan’s house!”
********
“So you’re telling me that you’ve known Tatsuya since kindergarten?!” Jin was shocked.
“Yes,”
“So, you suggested giving Kazuya my live show tickets because you knew Taguchi was my fan and he would drag Kazuya there no matter what?” Jin looked at Ueda.
“Of course,” Ueda smirked.
“Why didn’t you say anything to me?! And how did you know at that time me and Koki were talking about this Kazuya?”
“Jin, I’m Kazuya’s loyal listener since that unfortunate day at his pharmacy. He was complaining about your bratty attitude for one whole week.” Ueda rolled his eyes.
“Jin was a brat at that time.” Kazuya said, nonchalant.
“But I’m your lovely brat!” Jin grinned.
“Yes, you are.” Kazuya continued eating his food.
