Title: Even After Death
Pairings/Characters: Nakamaru/Ueda
Rating: R
Warnings: AU-ish?
Notes: I know you didn’t want a character death, but since everyone in this story is technically dead, I figured it would be fine. Azhe, I tend to make very…interesting stories, so I hope you enjoy!
Summary: After getting into a car accident and being in a coma for 50 years, Nakamaru is finally dead and able to go to Heaven. There, he reunites with his fellow KAT-TUN members.

“Yuichi Nakamaru. Male. Age: 30. Cause of death: Car accident then after 50 years in a coma, suffered from lung failure. Due to your good status on earth, you are allowed to be an angel. Please go on ahead and feel free to make yourself at home. Welcome to Heaven and please enjoy your stay!”

“Um…thank you?” Nakamaru replied back, though a bit uncertainly. He was in a dark room with just himself and the woman in front. The room itself was almost bare except for the desk and chair where the women sat and in front, a long staircase leading up to a large golden door. He stared at the foreign woman in front of him. She had curly blonde hair and blue eyes.

“I’ll just go now…?” Nakamaru asked, pointing a finger up the stairs. The woman smiled at him and nodded.

Nakamaru slowly made his way up the stairs. He felt a bit weird about all this but he knew why he was there- obviously it was because he was dead right?

Standing in front of the door, he didn’t make a move to open it. He continued to stare at the door in front of him.

“You grab the handle and then push.” The woman offered.

“Right. Thanks.” Nakamaru muttered. He took a deep breath as he grabbed the door knob and pushed open the door to Heaven.

…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…

“Itai! That hurts!” Nakamaru complained as he slowly got up. Apparently after walking out the door, there was nothing but the sky and clouds on the other side. Nakamaru ended up falling and landed back-first on the ground. As he brushed off the dirt from his clothes, he looked up to see the door he came out of- his eyes widen at exactly how high he fell from.

“Yup. If I’m not harmed after falling that high, then I really must be dead.” Nakamaru muttered to himself. Shaking his head, he looked around to see where he was.

Nakamaru decided that heaven was…glittery? He didn’t really know how to describe it. If he tried, he had to say that heaven was somewhat like Earth but with no pollution. There were people walking around, giving him curious smiles as they passed by. Everything also seemed to have a glow-y effect to them; Nakamaru was amazed as he realized that he himself had a glow also. And he didn’t miss the fact that there were so many glittering stars in the sky even when the sun was still up.

“So this is Heaven, huh? It’s...what I expected.” Nakamaru commented plainly, still taking in his new environment.

“Why am I not surprised about your reaction to Heaven.” Someone behind him snorted. Nakamaru’s eyes widen as he turned around. He knew that voice!

“Tatsuya!” He exclaimed as Ueda walked towards him. He immediately ran towards the younger man and gave him a big hug. “What are you doing here?” Nakamaru asked, but quickly changed his question when Ueda raised an eyebrow at him. “I mean, I can’t believe you died too!”

Ueda’s smile turned a bit sad as he looked at Nakamaru. “It’s been fifty years, Nakamaru. Most of the people you knew are now at the age where it’s not surprisingly if they died.”

Nakamaru froze as Ueda’s words sunk in. “Ah, yeah. You’re right. I guess I didn’t realize…” Nakamaru trailed off, chuckling a bit awkwardly. Then his eyes widen as he thought of something. “Why are you calling me ‘Nakamaru’? You always used to call me ‘Yuichi’ before?” Nakamaru pointed out. I mean, it was custom for lovers to call each other by their first names- right?

He and Ueda started dating a year before his accident.

Ueda had always liked Nakamaru, but there was no way in hell that he would be the first one to confess. Also, he was afraid that he would be rejected; he did notice how close Nakamaru and Kame were. So with the help of Taguchi, Ueda created a plan in order to get Nakamaru to confess his love for him. But of course, any plan that was created by Ueda Tatsuya and Taguchi Juunosuke would be nothing short of chaotic.

Nakamaru, unfortunately, became victim to the Ueda’s plan. Even now, Nakamaru couldn’t really recall exactly what happened. All that he remembered was that the plan involved all of the juniors, a tub full of maple syrup, ten cans of silly string, a life-size Ueda cut-out, three dozen chopsticks and a parrot.

Let’s just say that the plan landed Nakamaru in the hospital with a concussion- hence the reason why he could only vaguely remember Ueda’s plan. In the end, Ueda was the one who confessed his feelings first but he didn’t mind too much. Since he was the one who injured Nakamaru in the first place (although he did give eighty percent of the blame to Taguchi), the least he could do was be the one who confessed first. And even though Nakamaru’s mind screamed at Nakamaru to reject the confession, Nakamaru decided to follow his heart and accepted Ueda.

From then on, the two started dating.

Nakamaru smiled, a sudden nostalgic feeling spreading inside him. Ueda looked at Nakamaru with a speculating gaze. “I didn’t think…you don’t mind if I call you that?”

Nakamaru gave Ueda a weird look. “Of course I don’t. We are d-d-da-dating...” Nakamaru trailed off, suddenly feeling bashful.

Ueda gave him a surprised look, but then smiled widely at the other. “Baka Yuichi. After all this time, you still can’t say it properly.”

Nakamaru gave him a slight glare. “Shut up.” They both chuckled at their silliness for a moment. Nakamaru then sighed, “So if I died at thirty and been in a coma for fifty years, that means I’m technically eighty now right? And you should be the same age too. Whoa, we’re old!” Ueda laughed.

“Technically when a person dies, they start back at the beginning.” Ueda explained. “For example, Kame died at the age of sixty-eight. Since he’s been dead for nine years, he’s also nine years old now.”

“Ah, I get it. Wait. Doesn’t that mean I’m only one day old then?!” Nakamaru exclaimed, shocked at the revelation.

Ueda smirked. “Exactly. You’re the kouhai now.”

“My god. I’m actually younger than Kame now.” Nakamaru laughed in disbelief.

“Not just him- you’re the youngest member in KAT-TUN now.” Ueda informed him.

Nakamaru’s eyes widen. “What? So that means that Taguchi is also…”

Ueda nodded. “You’re the last to die. That means all of KAT-TUN is dead now. In fact, Taguchi and Kame should be on their way here- every angel has a way of telling if someone close to them had recently died. Since I’m one of the archangels, I got to meet with you first.”

“Archangels?” Nakamaru repeated, looking confused.

“Archangels are like God’s personal helpers. We’re also like the authority of Heaven- we’re in charge of keeping the peace around here.” Ueda explained. When Nakamaru muttered a comment about how the hell did someone like Ueda become the authority in heaven when on Earth he was anything but peaceful, Ueda punched him hard on the arm. “When a person dies, we are also sent to guide the new angels when they arrive here. Since it was you who died, I’d be damned if I let anyone other than me be the one in charge of you.”

“Okay.” Nakamaru said in understanding. “That’s great, Ueda! So how did you become an archangel?”

“Hmm…I’m not sure. I think God just chooses a person whom he thinks could be an archangel. It just happened suddenly to me- I was just walking home when suddenly I heard the ‘calling’ and I suddenly appeared in front of the archangel quarters. I then began getting lectured about how I was now an archangel and what my responsibilities were and yadda, yadda.” Ueda said, waving it off. “Anyway, I’m not the only archangel. Kame is also one and I’m sure you remember Yokoyama from Kanjani8 and Koyama and Massu from NEWS? They’re archangels too.”

“Waa~ Seriously?” Nakamaru’s eyes went wide. “How did they die…oops.” Nakamaru shook his head, “Ah, gomen. I don’t know if it’s okay to ask that.”

Ueda shrugged. “Nah. Most people are pretty fine saying how they died- except if it was by murder or rape. Kame died at sixty-eight due to getting hit on the head by a baseball which caused hemorrhage, Yokoyama died at sixty-three due to a heart attack, Koyama at fifty-nine because of an accident that occurred during his cataract surgery and Masuda just last year from plain old age.”

“So baseball ending up killing Kame, huh?” Nakamaru commented, somewhat surprised. Actually, Nakamaru was most interested in how Ueda died, but he decided to save that conversation for later. “Who else in Johnny’s died?”

“Everyone in SMAP,TOKIO, V6 and Kinki Kids. Tackey-san died too. Only Yokoyama, Yasuda and Murakami from Kanjani8. Everyone except Tegoshi in NEWS. Half the members in Hey! Say! JUMP and Kis-My-Ft2. Tottsu and Tsukada from A.B.C-Z. Everyone from Sexy Zone is still alive except I think Marius might join us here soon- he’s been really sick lately. And surprisingly, everyone from Arashi is still alive.”

Nakamaru whistled. “Damn those guys are strong. I didn’t expect anything less from Arashi.”

“It’s impressive.” Ueda agreed. “Anyway, we better be on our way. I gotta bring you to your new place.” Nakamaru stepped back in shock when Ueda’s wings suddenly appeared and opened wide. Ueda looked back at him, wearing a waiting expression on his face. “Well? Get your wings out too.”

“I have wings?!” Nakamaru yelled, looking at Ueda’s wings in disbelief. They were huge and delicate looking.

“You’re an angel. Of course you have wings. Just relax yourself and your wings will open themselves up.” Ueda suggested, giving his boyfriend a smirk. Still shocked, Nakamaru did what Ueda told him and his eyes widen when he felt something come out of his back. He looked over his shoulder and saw that he indeed had white wings as well.

“Amazing.” Nakamaru muttered, feeling the soft feathers.

“Okay then, let’s go!” Ueda said, flapping his wings. Nakamaru almost had another heart attack as Ueda flew a few feet high off the ground.

“We can fly?!” Nakamaru exclaimed.

“Well, what did you think wings are for? A fashion statement?” Nakamaru gasped at the familiar voice. He turned behind him to see Kamenashi Kazuya grinning behind him.

“Kame!” Nakamaru rushed towards him, careful to keep his balance since he wasn’t used to the weight of his wings, and gave the younger man a hug.

“It’s nice to see that you finally died.” Kame chuckled, returning the hug. Nakamaru scoffed at the statement. When they let go, Kame added, “We’ve been waiting a long time to see you again- especially Ueda.”

Ueda sputtered, his face turning a slight red. “Stop spewing lies, Kame!”

Nakamaru looked at Ueda with wide eyes. “You missed me?” he asked, looking touched.

Ueda looked away. “Don’t flatter yourself, Yuichi.” Nakamaru grinned at being called by his first name again.

“Anyway, you haven’t changed at all Kame.” Nakamaru commented, looking at Kame’s youthful appearance. “In fact, neither have you, Tatsuya. Didn’t you both die at an old age? You guys should have wrinkles and grey hair right now.” Nakamaru didn’t notice the look Kame gave Ueda. Ueda shook his head discreetly.

Facing Nakamaru, Kame spoke, “When a person dies, they go to Heaven in the body at its prime. That’s usually at the age of 25-30. That’s why we don’t look like we aged at all to you.”

“Ah, I see. I guess there’s still a lot more things I need to learn about this whole dying ordeal, huh?” Nakamaru nodded, letting the new info he learned sink in.

“Well, you’ll have time to get used to things around here.” Kame assured him.

“We better get going- I’m being called to guide another new angel soon.” Ueda told them, gesturing for them to leave. With a few moments of help from the other two, Nakamaru managed to get his own wings moving and all three of them started flying.

Nakamaru stared wide-eyed as they travelled through Heaven. It really was such a magnificent place; everything he had ever imagined. All the pictures he had seen about Heaven were definitely close to the real thing. Nakamaru had to rub his eyes at times though because of the glow that Heaven gave off sometimes was too bright for him.

As they travelled to the place that he would be staying at, someone suddenly flew straight at him. Nakamaru froze in fright as he found himself in the hands of this creature. This person gave off a dark aura- something that didn’t seem to belong in Heaven in the first place. And Nakamaru did notice that this person was dressed in black and instead of having white fluffy wings on his back, this person had sharp, sinister-looking black wings. And they were not fluffy at all.

Nakamaru looked at both Ueda and Kame for help, but was shocked when he saw them both chuckling back at him.

“Took you long enough to get here.” Ueda scoffed, smirking at the person who was currently squeezing the afterlife out of Nakamaru.

“You should let him go now, I think. Even though he’s dead, I’m pretty sure he looks like he’s gonna have a heart attack.” Kame pointed out. The person froze at Kame’s words.

“Eh? He doesn’t recognize me? That’s mean!” The person cried, letting Nakamaru go. Nakamaru gasped, finally able to breathe again. He looked up and finally got to see who the person was.

Nakamaru gaped. “Taguchi?!”

Taguchi smiled widely as he nodded his head fervently. “Yup! Waa, I’m so glad you do remember me!”

Nakamaru continued to stare at him with a disbelieving look. Taguchi still looked the same the last time he saw him. He was still tall with his usual big smile on his face. But Nakamaru couldn’t help but notice that Taguchi was wearing a black leather, military-like outfit and had a dark aura surrounding him. And the black wings definitely stood out as well.

“Why do you look…” Nakamaru gestured towards Taguchi’s being, “…different than the rest of us?” For the first time, Nakamaru noticed that he, Ueda, Kame and the other angels he saw wore all white clothes. Well, it was various shades of white, but still white all the same.

Taguchi chuckled. “Oh, that’s because I’m not an angel. I’m a demon.”

Nakamaru coughed. “What?!”

“You really shouldn’t be saying that while smiling, Baka.” Ueda said, rolling his eyes at Taguchi.

“B-but doesn’t that mean that Taguchi ending up in…” Nakamaru trailed off, still in disbelief.

“Yeah, he’s in Hell right now.” Kame nodded, confirming it to be true.

Nakamaru gave Taguchi a look. “What the hell did you do that ended up with you being in Hell? You kill somebody?”

Ueda snorted. “That’s what he likes to tell people down there.”

“I have to. It’s too boring to say the truth. They all say that they killed someone or became a terrorist or committed double homicide before committing suicide…for me, it’s only dying at the age of seventy-seven of old age.” Taguchi defended himself.

“Dying in your sleep really is pathetic.” Ueda agreed. “But that’s why it suits you so well.”

“Hey!” Taguchi frowned.

“Wait.” Nakamaru interrupted. He felt as if his brain was going to explode. Taguchi was in Hell? “If you didn’t commit murder, then how the hell did you end up in Hell?”

“Oh, it was all a misunderstanding actually.” Taguchi told him, looking a bit sheepish.

Kame was the one who explained. “At first, he was supposed to go to Heaven. But for some reason, this Baka ended up annoying one of the angels to the point that he got banned from opening the door to Heaven and got sent straight to Hell.”

“What did he do to annoy her?” Nakamaru asked, looking confused.

“He kept telling his stupid jokes to her and wouldn’t stop.” Ueda answered, shaking his head. “Baka.”

Nakamaru looked at Taguchi. “You really are a baka. Your mouth got you into Hell, you know.”

Taguchi smiled sheepishly. “I couldn’t help it! She didn’t have a sense of humor.”

“No, no, no. You just have a very lame sense of humor.” Kame told him.

Taguchi pouted. “It’s fine though. In six months, I’ll be evaluated again to go to Heaven.”

“Just remember to keep your mouth shut this time.” Kame warned him.

"You get to go to Heaven, even if you’re in Hell already?” Nakamaru asked.

“Yup. It’s for good behavior- kinda like in jail. And I already get to come to Heaven often- God allows me since I didn’t technically commit any mortal sins in my lifetime.” Taguchi pointed out.

“Those jokes that come out of your mouth are already a sin in the worst way possible as it is.” Ueda muttered.

“I bet he’ll start to irritate another angel and get sent back to Hell again.” Kame betted.

“Wouldn’t be surprised.” Nakamaru agreed.

“Hey! Guys…” Taguchi protested.

Nakamaru laughed as Taguchi started to chase them. They all ran around like little children, playing around and having fun together. Nakamaru looked at how happy all of them were and smiled.

KAT-TUN was complete once again.

…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…

Nakamaru stretched his arms, walking around his new place. After showing him his new place, the other members decide to leave for the day.

Nakamaru’s place was a small, but comfy house. It seemed to have the necessities that he still didn’t know if it was truly needed- did angels need to use bathroom? After touring his new place to get more comfortable with it, Nakamaru laid on his bed, watching some TV (yes, apparently cable existed in Heaven). It felt weird for him to watch the things on Earth since it’s been fifty years since he last did. Everything didn’t seem to be any different; although he did laughed his butt off when he saw the eighty-something year old Arashi prancing around on a music show.

Distracted from watching TV, Nakamaru didn’t hear the front door open or the footsteps coming towards his room. He stopped in mid-laughter when someone appeared in front of the doorway, but he sighed in relief when he saw it was Ueda.

“Yo.” Ueda greeted, coming to sit on his bed. Nakamaru had given him a spare key earlier so he could visit anytime he wanted.

“Johnny’s is still going strong after all these years, huh?” Nakamaru said, staring at all the new groups and juniors and TV.”’

“Of course. Johnny’s is just awesome like that.” Ueda said smugly. They both chuckled together. Nakamaru smiled as he scooted close to Ueda and snuggled against the other. They both sighed in contentment as they both stayed close together on the bed, watching TV. It felt like no time had passed between them. As long as they were together, everything was alright.

“Ne, Tatsuya?” Nakamaru asked.

“Hm?” Ueda hummed.

“I hope you don’t mind me asking, but I never did find out when you died and how.” Nakamaru pointed out. He felt Ueda stiffen at the query and immediately added, “But if you don’t feel comfortable telling me, you don’t have to. Well, not right now that is. I do what to know someday.”

Ueda was quiet for a while, just staring at Nakamaru silently. He then cuddled into Nakamaru’s neck, breathing in the other’s scent. After a moment, Ueda finally spoke. “I drowned.” he answered simply. Nakamaru merely stroked his lovers back, merely waiting for more. “I died earlier than both Taguchi and Kame. There was a storm one day…the weather was really bad…the water was really cold and I couldn’t even see anything…I remember feeling my entire body slowly grow heavy…it was too freaking cold…” Ueda muttered.

“It’s okay, you don’t have to relive that moment.” Nakamaru whispered, holding the other close. “Thank you for telling me.” Ueda looked up at Nakamaru at that point, looking like he was about to cry.

But Nakamaru knew that Ueda wouldn’t cry- it was rare to see the other cry since Ueda was very strong and stubborn to show any weaknesses. Nakamaru had known the other since they were in school and Nakamaru could only recall seeing Ueda crying only four times since then.

“You don’t remember what happened in the car accident, do you?” Ueda asked suddenly.

Nakamaru frowned. “The one that put me in a coma? Not really…all I remember was being hit by a red car. I can’t remember anything else.”

Ueda looked so sad then that Nakamaru wished he knew how to make the other feel better. “That happens sometimes. The new angels would forget the details of their life and death, but they’ll soon get a vision about it and then they’ll remember again.”

“Do you not want me to remember the accident?” Nakamaru questioned, looking confused.

Ueda shook his head. “Whether I want you to or not, it’s inevitable. But once you remember the accident, you won’t want to be with me anymore.” His face became even more melancholy at this. Nakamaru didn’t really understand what the other was telling him, but all he knew was that he wanted to take the other’s sadness away.

Nakamaru moved away a bit in order to see the other’s face properly and then leaned close to catch Ueda’s lips in a kiss, which his lover resisted for a split second, then melted into with a relieved sigh. It felt so long since they both kissed.

“Don’t be sad anymore. I can’t stand it.” Nakamaru whispered, then slipped his tongue into the other’s mouth. Ueda moaned into the kiss, clutching at Nakamaru's shirt front and kneading it with his hands. All feelings of depression soon left his body as they were replaced by the rush of lust which rapidly started to spread.

Nakamaru gasped when Ueda suddenly shifted their bodies so that now he was laid on the bed and Ueda was now on top. “What the-“ Nakamaru demanded.

“If I recall, you got to top the last time we had sex. It’s my turn now.” Ueda interrupted, grinning. He quickly sucked Nakamaru’s lips, swallowing any protests the other wanted to make.

“The hell. And we’re in Heaven for god’s sake- pun unintended- are we even allowed to have sex here?” Nakamaru demanded.

“Of course! As long as we love each other, God will allow it. Sex is one of the basic needs, you know? It’s up there with water and shelter. Besides, if we weren’t allowed to make love here, then this might as well be Hell!” Ueda lectured him.

Nakamaru pouted, but finally gave in, “Fine. But I get to top next time.” Ueda cheered as he kissed the other deeply.

Ueda centered himself over him, grinding his hips down into his older lover. He was achingly hard, infinitely pleased that he won the battle on who topped who. His lips broke away from Nakamaru’s mouth to nibble at his ear. "You want me, don't you?" he hissed there, and then traced his tongue around the curve of the other’s ear as Nakamaru moaned uncontrollably in response. "Say it. Say you want me."

“I...I want you, Tatsuya," Nakamaru whispered, blushing. He shut his eyes tightly and cried out with pleasure as Ueda sucked at a particularly sensitive spot on his neck. "Oh God, please!" he cried, not really knowing what he was pleading for.

But Ueda knew, and he unfastened his pants dexterously as he continued to kiss his lover. His hands then worked on removing Nakamaru's clothing, getting the trembling man naked in no time at all. Nakamaru panted and looked up at him with half lidded eyes as Ueda stroked his own erection for a moment. "Oh...how I've waited for this," he murmured, then snaked his hand behind the other man’s head to retrieve the bottle of lube from his bag (he kept it in there in case of ‘special’ emergencies). He drizzled some on his hand, stroked at himself with it, and then moved his slippery fingers between Nakamaru's legs.

“Oh...Tatsuya!" Nakamaru cried out as one wet digit trailed lazily around his entrance. Ueda smiled and pushed the finger inside, earning a shudder and a moan from the other. “Yuichi," Ueda whispered, leaning down to kiss him. "You're so tight."

“ Mmm," Nakamaru mumbled into the kiss, then uttered a higher pitched cry as Ueda worked a second finger inside. Nakamaru then remembered something and reached down to gently stroke one of Ueda’s calves. He let out a sly grin as the other moaned at the touch.

“So you still get turned on when someone touches your calves?” Nakamaru commented, stroking the other calf. He found out after the first time they slept together that Ueda was especially sensitive whenever it came to his calves. Nakamaru’s smirk soon turned into a long and loud moan as Ueda continued to pump him harder with his fingers.

“I have to have you..." Ueda groaned, pumping his fingers and stretching him out. "Shit Yuichi, I can't wait any longer," he whispered, then removed his fingers and positioned himself between the older man's thighs. He pushed Nakamaru’s knees towards his chest, and then the tip of his hardness rubbed insistently at Nakamaru's entrance. "Just relax," he coaxed his older lover, then slowly began to penetrate him.

“Ah!" Nakamaru cried. It felt strange, but incredibly pleasant at the same time. He felt himself getting hard once again, the more that Ueda pressed inside of him. Ueda did not fail to notice his lover’s reawakened member, and he took it in hand, stroking at it as he continued to push into the man. Once he was buried to the hilt, he pulsed there for a few moments before beginning to thrust.

Nakamaru moaned desperately, wrapping his slim thighs around Ueda's back. It was too wonderful; too perfect...all the repressed passion of the last fifty years were spilling out and overflowing as the two made love. They writhed together, the sensations between them almost electrified with energy.

Nakamaru's body stiffened as he felt himself nearing another climax. "Tatsuya…I'm...going to..."

"Oh yes," Ueda groaned in rapture. "Yes, don't hold back," he encouraged him.

“"Oh! Oh! Ahhh!" Nakamaru cried, getting louder with each syllable. He arched his back and threw his head back as he came into Ueda’s hand. His body pulsated and clamped down on Ueda, who gave a low cry as his lover's pleasure pulled a powerful orgasm out of his body.

Afterwards, they lay in the sweat dampened sheets, holding each other. Nakamaru buried his face in Ueda's chest, feeling thoroughly satisfied. Ueda in return stroked the other's hair. They were quiet for a while, as they lay together, listening to the other’s breathing.

Nakamaru slowly pushed up, leaning on his elbows. He winced a bit at the pain on his lower back but turned to look at Ueda. “Tatsuya?” Ueda turned towards him, giving him a questioning look. Nakamaru smiled as he cupped the other’s cheek with his right hand. “You’re wrong. Even if I remember the car accident, I will still always want to be with you.”

“You don’t know that.” Ueda whispered, a pained expression on his face.

Nakamaru leaned down and laid down beside his lover, wrapping his arms around Ueda’s waist. Giving the other a sweet kiss, Nakamaru looked Ueda straight in the eye. “I’m incapable of living without you.” He told Ueda. “Whether it’s fifty years or fifty centuries from now, or whether we’re either alive or dead, it doesn’t matter. I will always love you, Ueda Tatsuya.” He gave a little grin as Ueda stared at him wide eyed. “So don’t worry, okay?” He added, playfully giving the other a slap on the others behind.

Ueda snorted but looked at him with the biggest smile that Nakamaru had ever seen on him. “I love you too, Yuichi.” He told him. He then muttered something that sounded like, “I’ve waited fifty years for you to tell me that,” but Nakamaru wasn’t really sure if he heard correctly.

They both smiled at each other as they leaned in to share another kiss. With their bodies close together, they both slept with smiles on their faces.

…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…

*The car accident- 50 years ago*

“I can’t fucking believe you!” Ueda yelled, glaring angrily at his boyfriend. They had been dating for a year, but even now, it didn’t seem like it. Nakamaru insisted to keep their relationship a secret (although their fellow KAT-TUN members knew, of course). It wouldn’t look good in the tabloids if there was a gay couple in Johnny’s Entertainment. What would happen to the group if the news spread? Would the fans be disgusted and stop supporting KAT-TUN? Nakamaru couldn’t take the risk.

Ueda understood the situation, but even if they couldn’t go public with their relationship, they could still be lovers in private, couldn’t they? But he and Nakamaru had never gone out on a date even once (the outing they had at a zoo with Kame and Taguchi tagging along didn’t count). And when they were alone together, Nakamaru would rather read a book than to talk with Ueda. The only lover-like thing they did together was have sex, but didn’t that make them only sex friends instead?

But the thing Ueda hated the most was that not once had Nakamaru said ‘I love you’ to him. Ueda had said those words on some occasions, but all he got in return was an ‘Ah, thanks’ or ‘I like you too’.

But now, the thing that pushed Ueda over the edge was the fact that today was their one year anniversary and Nakamaru had absolutely forgotten about it. When Ueda suggested that they go to the new park that just opened (he knew that Nakamaru loved peaceful places like that) Nakamaru said that he wasn’t feeling well and just wanted to rest for the day.

“Why are you so mad? I’m sorry I forgot about our anniversary, okay?” Nakamaru shouted back. He rubbed his temples, feeling a headache going on. He had just come home and now he and Ueda were arguing. Again. It felt like they did nothing but argue constantly lately.

“It’s not just the anniversary, It everything about this relationship. You and I can’t even be considered as lovers! We don’t even go on dates and do what lovers are supposed to do!” Ueda told him.

“We do plenty of lover-stuff. We have sex, don’t we?” Nakamaru insisted, exasperated.

“Yeah, sex. We might as well be friends with benefits then.” Ueda gritted through his teeth.

“What do you want from me then?” Nakamaru bursted out. He glared at Ueda too, frustrated by the situation.

‘Admit you love me you big-nosed idiot.’ Ueda thought, but then pushed it away. Like fucking hell he was gonna beg for a love confession like some sappy, pathetic girl. “You know what? I want nothing from you. Let’s just stop this already. I’m sick and tired and I fucking give up already. Let’s just go back to being group members again and forget this relationship even happened!” With that, Ueda ran out the door, unable to face Nakamaru anymore.

Nakamaru stared after Ueda, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Did they just break up? Nakamaru knew that they fought often, but they always made up afterwards. He didn’t think that this time was any different. Even though Nakamaru never said it out loud, he really did love Ueda very much. It was just that he was a bit too shy to actually say the words aloud yet.

Nakamaru ran outside, trying to look for Ueda. As soon as he found his lover, he would make up with him, drag him back to their apartment and have wild sex for the rest of the day and night…and even in the morning tomorrow.

As he ran, he called out Ueda’s name, trying to find him. He paid attention to nothing around him, solely focused on finding Ueda. He didn’t notice that when he was crossing the street when the light was still green and didn’t notice the red car came right at him.

The only thing he noticed was when he heard Ueda’s voice screaming, “YUICHI!” and when Nakamaru turned around in time to see the look of pure horror on Ueda’s face, he suddenly felt the impact of the car crashing against his body.

The last thing he remember was the hard, cold cement where he laid, bleeding profusely on the ground as he heard nothing but Ueda’s cries and pleads, begging him not to die. After that, there was only darkness.

…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…

Nakamaru gasped, sitting up in his bed, panting at the dream he had.

No, it wasn’t a dream. It was the memory of how the car accident happened. Of how he ended up in a coma for fifty years.

He remembered fighting with Ueda and how he got hit by the car when he was searching for his runaway boyfriend.

“Yuichi…?” Nakamaru looked down as he saw Ueda looking at him sleepily with only one eye opened. “What’s the matter?”

Nakamaru looked at the other for a moment before laying back down. “Nothing. Bad Dream.” Nakamaru muttered, pulling the other closer to him.

“Mmn…it’s okay, Yuichi. I’m here now. We’ll always be together.” Ueda mumbled, snuggling his face into Nakamaru’s chest.

Nakamaru merely held Ueda tighter.

…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…

A few months passed and Nakamaru was finally getting used to being in Heaven. He learned that angels and demons often fought together. He found out that the main blessing that every angel wishes for is to be reincarnated after living for a minimum of 1000 years. If an angel dies in Heaven before they could be reincarnated, they will cease to exist. The memory of their existence will disappear forever. Because of this, all angels were required to learn how to defend themselves. So he had to undergo training with the other novice angels. It was like he was going to school again.

On his free times, he and Ueda went on plenty of dates and spent lots of time together. He wanted to make up with Ueda for his behavior when they were still alive. He found out that it felt better when he let himself do all the lovey-dovey stuff he wanted to do, not caring about what everyone’s else thought. As long as he and especially Ueda were happy, then nothing else mattered to him.

Nakamaru was meeting up with the KAT-TUN members after his training. They stayed at a café where they spoke and chatted about what was going on in their lives. Kame was being promoted to becoming chief Archangel, Taguchi was had recently been allowed to become an angel and was showing off his new white wings (although Ueda swore that if Taguchi kept dropping feathers in his food, then he would ripped off Taguchi’s wings himself) and Nakamaru and Ueda responded whenever there was comment (or teasing) about how their relationship was going.

As they chatted together, Nakamaru suddenly felt a chill. He looked around and could tell that the others felt it as well. Suddenly, a black demon appeared in the café, destroying everything he could in his path.

Nakamaru swore as the black demon smashed their table to smithereens. This demon must have found a way to transport himself to Heaven. It was forbidden for Demons to come to Heaven (unless their situation was like Taguchi’s before) or for Angels to go to Hell. But there were ways (very few) that allowed each species to visit the other.

And what was worse, Nakamaru could tell them this demon was a first class and very powerful demon.

Nakamaru was trapped under one of the over turned tables. As he struggled to get out from underneath them, he froze when he heard piercing screams. He looked up to see Kame on the ground a few feet away, his leg bleeding profusely. Even as he bled, he reached for his sword to slash at the demon.

Taguchi and Ueda circled the demon, trying to get a perfect aim at his heart. The only way to kill an angel or demon was to destroy their heart.

Cold and emotionless, the demon attacked. Taguchi charged forward and took the demon to the ground. He started punching the demon, the ground beneath them crumbled by the force. The demon then clutched Taguchi by the throat and flung him away, causing Taguchi to hit the café’s glass windows, shattering the glass. Broken glass and blood stained the floor as Taguchi’s had hit the window, headfirst.

Growling, Ueda grabbed made his blade appear in his hand and aimed it straight to the demon’s heart. The demon quickly dodged it and used his wings to put distance between them. The demon made his own blade appear. Both men got into position, facing each other.

Even though Ueda was experienced in boxing and was the best out of all of them in self-defense, Nakamaru didn’t know how his lover would fare against a high-class demon. Nakamaru struggled against the steel tables, trying to lift them off him. He never felt so helpless. His instinct was to protect his lover but he couldn't even do that.

With uncanny speed they charged at each other, their swords coming in contact creating sparks. They parted and met again. Ueda swung his sword again and again his speed increasing. The demon dodged and striked back. Ueda traced and landed on top of him, kicking him in the face sending him flying toward the wall.

The demon righted himself and shifted behind him. Ueda knew where he shifted as he spun to catch metal with metal. Ueda kicked again only to miss. The demon used this and punched Ueda in the face. Ueda fell but shifted behind the demon again and punched both below the spine and the shoulder blades where the wings connected to his back caused numbness to the wings.

The demon growled as his wings became a burden with its weight. Ueda aimed at his head and swung. The demon managed to block the attack and shifted right in front of Ueda knocking him back and sending him flying backward.

Just before hitting the wall, Ueda spun into a 180 and flew toward the demon with lighting speed and thrusted his sword over his shoulder, managing to injure the demon’s shoulder. Clutching his bleeding shoulder the demon shifted and suddenly appeared behind Ueda and brought its blade straight down.

Seeing that his lover was about to be killed, Nakamaru used whatever strength he has left and managed to slip his thankfully skinny body from under the table. Nakamaru was still a novice at fighting so he knew he was unable to bring out his own sword quick enough. But there was no way he was gonna let Ueda be hurt, so there was only one thing he could do to save him.

Nakamaru ended up taking the hit instead.

Everyone gasped and stared in shock as the demon’s blade plunged directly into Nakamaru’s heart. Stunned, Nakamaru fell to his knees, blood pooling out of his mouth.

“Nakamaru!” All the angels cried out. Ueda was unable to speak as he looked at the blood that was pooling underneath Nakamaru. The demon took out the blade from his chest. Everyone watched as Nakamaru fell forwards like a puppet whose strings were cut off.

Before the demon could aim his blade at the frozen Ueda, Taguchi and Kame managed to tackle him to the ground as the other angels went to help take out the demon.

Ueda dumbly looked down at Nakamaru, watching as he bled out. After a few moments, he finally managed to get his legs moving to take those few extra steps towards his fallen lover. Ueda fell to his knees as he turned and held Nakamaru in his lap, arms wrapped around him. "Yuichi, love, hold on, hold on I'll make sure you’re better…I'll take the pain away I promise." Ueda rocked him as gently as he could with the death grip he had on his body.

Nakamaru’s eyes fluttered open. He was gasping for breath. His motions were stiff, jerky. He looked up at Ueda as he raised a hand to the other’s cheek. He realized that Ueda’s cheek was wet from the tears that were streaming out.

Ueda was crying.

“Don’t…cry…Tatsuya.” Nakamaru whispered, lightly cupping the other’s cheek. His heart hurt even more when Ueda started to sob even louder. Nakamaru was slowly disappearing as his hand had went straight through Ueda.

“Y-you…baka…BAKA! WHY DID YOU SAVE ME?” Ueda cried, trying to hold on to whatever he could of Nakamaru.

Trying to keep his consciousness, Nakamaru replied, “Because I… love you…too much…don’t…want to see you…hurt.”

“This is all my fault! Just like that car accident…if I didn’t run that day, you wouldn’t have been hurt and-“ Ueda choked as he sobbed loudly, his tears blocking his vision.

“Ueda…” Nakamaru called quietly. When the other didn’t hear, Nakamaru raised his voice and called for his lover again, this time getting Ueda’s attention. “The car accident…wasn’t your…fault. I know what happened…I shouldn’t…have crossed the…street without looking. It was...all my fault. Not yours. I don’t blame…you.”

Ueda shook his head. “You’re wrong.”

Nakamaru coughed, more blood dripping down his mouth. “Fine. If you still…think it’s your…fault for…my death…then I guess we’re…even, huh?”

Ueda stared at him with large wet eyes, “What?”

Nakamaru opened his eyes wider, looking Ueda straight in the eye. “The reason you died…was more…than just…drowning…wasn’t it?”

“I don’t know what you’re…”

“Tatsuya.” Nakamaru struggled to keep his eyes open, but he needed to say this. “The reason you…died was….because of…me, right?”

…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…

*One year after Nakamaru’s car accident*

There was a huge storm raging that day. The news said that a super tsunami was coming towards Japan, but Ueda just ignored the news as he put on his raincoat, getting ready to go outside.

One year ago, his boyfriend got into a car accident and it was his entire fault. Ueda spent the rest of the 365 days visiting Nakamaru in the hospital where the older man stayed in a coma. Ueda had not missed a single day to visit and he sure as hell wasn’t going to miss visiting Nakamaru on their anniversary.

Not even the storm would stop him.

As he travelled through the streets, he saw that they were all empty. He figured everyone was inside their houses, probably protecting themselves from the upcoming tsunami. But Ueda just kept pushing on, running on foot since that was the safer option that using his car or another mode of transportation. He decided to make a shortcut through a park nearby.

Suddenly, a large wind came and it was so strong that it blew the anniversary gift the Ueda had in his hand away. Ueda ran to pick up the wrapped present. It was a gold promise ring and he had spent a lot of hours trying to find the perfect one that matched Nakamaru. The promise ring was a symbol for them to always promise to be together (whether alive or dead). The ring was a simple gold band with sapphires (Nakamaru’s birthstone). Ueda had also bought a sloth doll since that animal was associated with Nakamaru a lot.

The gift landed on top of a bridge located in the park. Ueda ran up to it and grabbed the present, checking to see if it was still okay. As Ueda turned to leave, lighting shock through the sky and hit the bridge. The old run down bridge crumbled beneath him from the impact, bringing Ueda down into the cold dark waters, the anniversary gift going down with him.

…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…

“How did you…?” Ueda trailed off, looking at Nakamaru in disbelief.

“I saw it… happen… in my dreams, but… when I… woke up, I realized that…it wasn’t… a dream.” Nakamaru gasped, his voice hoarse. “It’s my… fault that you… went out in the… first place…You died...forty-nine years ago…If you caused my… death, then… I also caused…yours…We’re even.”

Ueda looked down in anguish at him, cradling his lover although Nakamaru’s body was slowly fading away.

“Ne, Tatsuya?...The sun and moon…is really pretty…” Nakamaru observed. The demon had been captured already and all the angels were outside. They were trying to give Ueda and Nakamaru some privacy to themselves. The shattered windows gave way to the sunlight that shined through into the room. The place glittered from the shattered glass and it has its usual glow on everything.

“Yeah. It only happens in Heaven.” Ueda whispered, looking at Nakamaru with loving eyes, tears streaming down his face. He could feel his lover’s time running out and all he could do was go along with Nakamaru’s ramblings.

“I don’t…want you to…forget…me…” Nakamaru whispered, feeling tears stream down his face.

“ I’ll pray to God to let him keep my memories of you and your big nose.” Ueda told him. Nakamaru gave out a weak chuckle.

“ I hope Taguchi…and Kame…are okay. After…the car accident…and you’re death, they still…kept KAT-TUN alive…There so amazing…” Nakamaru spoke softly.

“They didn’t want KAT-TUN to die, even if half of its members were already gone.” Ueda told him.

“Good…KAT-TUN should live…on, even after…death.” Nakamaru agreed. He slowly turned to Ueda, looking into the other eyes. “Ueda?”

“Yes?” Ueda replied, looking down at him.

“Thank you…for waiting for me…for all these years…I love you…always…” At those words, Ueda finally broke down again, unable to accept what was happening.

Nakamaru took one final breath before he slowly felt himself disappear. Ueda tried to grab onto him, but his hands grabbed at nothingness. Nakamaru slowly closed his eyes, fading into the blackness with the sound of Ueda cries being the last thing he could hear.

“…Yuichi…”

“…Yuichi…”

“…”

“…Yuichi…”

“Yuichi…”

“Yuichi…”

“YUICHI!!!”

Nakamaru opened his eyes and saw himself standing in the middle of the road. He had one foot up and he looked to his left to see a red car coming him way.

He took a deep breath…

…And took a step back.

He was only a few centimeters away as the red car zoomed pass him, honking its horn as it drove away.

Taking a shaky breath, Nakamaru slid to the ground. Ueda ran up to him and took his arm. “Stupid, what the hell were you doing running into the street like that?!” He demanded, dragging the older man onto the sidewalk. Nakamaru stayed silent as he allowed Ueda to drag him into the nearest park.

They sat on the benches, watching some kids playing by. They stayed near the shady areas, hoping none of their fans or paparazzi would catch them. After a few moments of silence, Nakamaru finally spoke, “We should get that bridge checked. It might crumble in a storm. And I should warn Kame about the dangers of baseball with the elderly. And Yokoyama should stop eating so many fast foods. And Koyama should be more careful with his eyes…” Nakamaru muttered.

“What are you talking about?” Ueda questioned, giving him a confused look. Nakamaru stopped his ramblings and looked at Ueda.

“Nothing.” Nakamaru replied, shaking his head. He looked at the kids again, knowing that Ueda was giving him a concerned look. Nakamaru knew he was acting strange. He looked back to Ueda and asked, “Ne, Tatsuya?”

“Yeah?” Ueda spoke, looking at him.

“I love you.” Ueda’s eyes went wide at the confession.

“You do?” Ueda whispered, looking as if he did not quite believe him. It made Nakamaru feel bad that he never told Ueda his feelings before.

“I’m incapable of living without you. Whether it’s fifty years or fifty centuries from now, or whether we’re either alive or dead, it doesn’t matter. I will always love you, Ueda Tatsuya.” He smiled as he repeated the words he told Ueda when he was in Heaven. Whether on Earth or in Heaven, Nakamaru would always be in love with Ueda.

Ueda blushed bright red at Nakamaru’s words. “Che…it’s about time you told me, you freaking big-nosed, sloth-like baka!”

Nakamaru grinned as he brought Ueda closer to him. Not caring who was watching them, he leaned down to pressed his lips against Ueda’s. When they parted, Ueda gave Nakamaru a genuine smile.

“What brought this on all of a sudden. I like it, but I’m just wondering.” Ueda looked at him with a questioning gaze as he asked.

Nakamaru shrugged. “I guess I didn’t want to wait fifty years to tell you I loved you.”

Ueda grinned widely as he pulled Nakamaru up and they headed back to their apartment. “In that case, let’s go celebrate your first confession to me at home…or more specifically in bed. “ Ueda said, wriggling his eyebrows at Nakamaru. Nakamaru laughed as he let the younger guy lead him away.

“Ah, wait.” Nakamaru stopped suddenly, making Ueda stop as well.

“What is it?” Ueda asked, looking up at him.

Nakamaru smiled as he intertwined his fingers with Ueda’s. “I forgot to tell you something.”

“Happy Anniversary, Tatsuya.”
