icon only being used because it is shiny and new, and i'm really not the type to use an icon like this, anyway, so... watch ergo proxy! it's pretty and cool! *coughs* but don't be offended by the icon. ^_~

spurned on by Kent (shinataku02), i've finally gotten around to setting up tags for the comm. you can now tag your posts as "fic" or "request", and by fandom. isn't that fun? one word of warning, though. i'm not planning on going back and tagging all 2,000+ entries, so the tag links should never be considered a complete reference of posts related to that tag. and also, each member will be SOLELY responsible for tagging his or her own entries, in other words, i'm not going to tag things for you, and no one else is, so unless you tag your post, it's not going to be tagged.

so, how does this work?

Method 1

- when you are done posting, click on the "Edit this entry's tags" link

- scroll down, and select from the list of tags the appropriate tags. (hold the control or open apple key to select multiple tags for a single entry)

- when you are done, hit the save changes button, and you're done!

Method 2

- from the fic_on_demand main page, go to your post, and click on the "Edit tag" link

- scroll down, and select from the list of tags the appropriate tags. (hold the control or open apple key to select multiple tags for a single entry)

- when you are done, hit the save changes button, and you're done!

Method 3

- from the full page with just your post (ie, the page where comments would be, the page with the livejournal header at the top, and your full post with comments), there is a blue box under your username, before your post begins. click the little box that says "tag".

- scroll down, and select from the list of tags the appropriate tags. (hold the control or open apple key to select multiple tags for a single entry)

- when you are done, hit the save changes button, and you're done!

some caveats...

now, the list of fandoms i've set up as tags are the ones that were already in use in our memories. there may well be, therefore, fandoms that you would need a tag for that is not listed amongst the possible tags. only mods can add tags to comms, so if you need me to add a fandom to the list of tags, simply put a note like this in your post, not behind a cut:

note to mod: please add Spongebob Squarepants to the tags!

something like that, that i will see and then i can tag your entry for you, and badabing, it'll be there the next time you need to use it. ^_~

also, most of the tags right now are not in use, ie, there are no posts tagged with those tags. you can see what i mean on the tag usage page. for regular members, a tag that has no posts to it will, if clicked, give you an error message. this is completely normal, and doesn't mean that anything is wrong. however, if there are posts listed on the tag usage page for a particular tag, and clicking the tag link gives you an error message, then that means that i've set up the tag incorrectly, and if you could please let me know, say to this post, i can fix it. ^_~

i've changed the layout to make tag usage easier, too. tried to keep the font large, since i know that was an issue before. all the links to tags are on right sidebar. the tag usage page and this post will be listed in our links. er, in case anyone is wondering... the layout is intended to look like lined paper, but unobtrusively, so it's still easy to read. ^_^;;;;;

if you have any questions/concerns/comments, just let me know. and again, tagging is up to you to do. the use of tags is a convenience to members, but it is up to members to tag their own posts, so tag links should never be considered to be a comprehensive method of searching the comm for posts.

thanks!
