Their eyes met in the heat of the conflict, and then they narrowed in unison. This was it, this was the last chance that either of them would get to triumph, and they planned to grasp that chance in both hands. The determination was clear in both opponents, and one had to wonder which one would come out victorious…
A sharp whistle was their signal to go, and both took off running.
“Hey, ‘Ro heads up!” There it was, the rapidly spinning disc that was their goal, and they both leaped for the chance
Trowa had the advantage of longer arms, and he managed to snatch the Frisbee just before Heero’s hands closed on the rim. Digging his heels into the ground, he dodged the grabbing arms that followed, and took off down the field toward the opposing end zone. A certain blond was running further up the field, and he shifted his grip on the Frisbee and threw the disc forehand, sending it skimming through the air toward his team mate.
A leap and Quatre caught the Frisbee, tumbling to the ground just inside the end zone. Laughing, he held up the disk to show off the point, and thus his and Trowa’s win.
“I told you that you shouldn’t go head-to-head with Trowa, Heero,” called the Chinese boy who was sitting against the tree at the side of the field. Absently the boy adjusted his glasses before placing the bookmark between the pages of the old tome he held in his hands. Standing up, he walked toward the glaring half-Japanese boy standing on the field.
“It wasn’t his fault,” protested Duo, joining the other two while Heero continued to glare daggers at the grinning Quatre and the quietly-triumphant Trowa.
“Of course not, Duo, of course not,” Wufei soothed. “However, there is the matter of a bet…”
“Pay up, Yuy,” said Trowa, holding out one hand.
“Fine, fine. Bastard,” grumbled Heero, digging out five bucks and grudgingly handing it over to Trowa before he stalked off to get a soda. Duo just shrugged at the other three, before leading them after Heero. After all, it was just one summer day out of many, just one game of Ultimate Frisbee out of hundreds they’d play this summer.
I just made it in time!!!
