Pairing/characters: Schuldich(/Aya), Schwarz
Warnings/notes: My second try at this prompt, and I'm depressingly sure that once again, it won't be what the prompter hoped for.

"He's letting me take him out to dinner this evening," Schuldich declared happily. "And after that, we'll go to see a movie."

"In Japanese," said Nagi. "Which you can only speak thanks to the fact that you're a mind-reader."

"Telepath," corrected Farfarello.

"Oh, hush." Schuldich made a dismissive gesture. "I'll simply pluck the general story-line from someone else's mind. We'll hold hands - that's what's important."

"Am I the only one who finds this disturbing?" Crawford asked.

"True love can change anyone," said Farfarello wisely. "Which is why I only leave the house when you promise me I can kill people."

"Am I the only one who finds that disturbing?" Nagi inquired. Two-and-a-half pairs of eyes stared at him. "Okay, stupid question. Never mind."

"Killing everyone I meet means I never get emotionally attached to any of them, meaning I'm safe for this disease called 'love'."

"It's not a 'disease'," Schuldich protested. "It's fun. With chocolate sauce."

The three other members of Schwarz shared a shudder at the mental image accompanying those particular words.

"According to the Church, it is - at least when it's between two men," said Farfarello.

"I'm simply somewhat ... concerned about your professionalism," said Crawford.

"Oh, for crying out loud! He's an assassin, too, you know," Schuldich snapped. "One who looks gorgeous splattered in the blood of his enemies, by the way, which is more than I can say for the rest of them. All that red ... "

"You're breaking character," Crawford said.

"I'm being truthful," Schuldich defended himself. "Come on, Brad - just a pinch of psychotic, to convince Kritiker that deep down inside, we're still slick and dangerous. A glimpse beneath the veneer of civility."

"Maybe we should send Nagi after all."

"Nagi's got about the emotional presence of a dead fish!" Schuldich said. "Look, it's not like I want the job, but if you want them to be impressed and agree to take us in, sending Nagi's not going to cut it."

"I do consider your attachment to Abyssinian an important factor. It should serve quite nicely to convince Kritiker of our sincerity," admitted Crawford, looking pensive.

" 'Oh, I can't bear the thought of killing my darling snuggle-bunny,' " Farfarello declared in a nasal voice. " 'Thanks to love, I have seen the evil of my former wicked ways.' "

"Then again, there's no need to overdo it," Crawford said, looking mildly disturbed.

" 'I don't want to kill my studmuffin; he's too good in bed,' " Nagi deadpanned.

"Not," said Schuldich coldly, "that it's any of your business, but my petname for him is 'kitten'."

"What's his for you?" Farfarello asked curiously.

"Psycho."

"Nice."

"Of course, there's still option number two: letting Weiss deal with Kritiker for us, or more precisely, letting Abyssinian approach them with our proposal," said Crawford.

Schuldich looked dubious. "Not sure if that'd work. I mean, me, he obviously loves - "

"Psycho." Farfarello smirked.

" - but the rest of you, he might have a teensy little problem with," Schuldich finished smoothly.

"Last time we met, he tried to gut me," Nagi commented.

"We'll tell him that unless he cooperates, we'll send a very special videotape to Kritiker," Crawford declared. "Or rather: Schuldich will tell him that, since he has got a 'teensy little problem' with the rest of us."

"Heh," said Farfarello.

Schuldich had gone slightly pale. "Brad. Please tell me you didn't really - "

Crawford gave him a level look. "Schuldich. Convince him it's in his best interest to do us this small favor, and you'll never need to find out."

"I'll go see if he's in the shop today." Schuldich rose and hurried out the door.

Nagi and Farfarello both stared at Crawford, who treated them to an enigmatic smile.
