(from rosehiptea) So my challenge is: Take a female character who either has a serious scar or scars or could be believably given scars (however that works for you). And someone else reacts to them in a positive/accepting way. Can be het, femmeslash, or gen, and doesn't have to be an actual scene between the two. Also doesn't have to be blatant hurt/comfort or fluff, though I'd rather it not be extremely dark. http://community.livejournal.com/fic_on_demand/938857.html

She woke up gasping and trying not to scream, and for the first awful moment she didn’t even know who won.

“Cesia?” Rim Kaana’s voice, which made the answer to her first question still ambiguous. The little demon-turned-fairy’s (or was it the other way around?) high heels clicked on some kind of tile as she hurried to her side. “Tintlet said you might not be able to see for a while.” The girl ventured, her voice hushed and cautious. “Are you all right?”

“I’m guessing this means we won.” Cesia managed, and dragged up a smile from somewhere.

“Believe me,” Rim Kaana said a little tightly, her voice low and painful. “If we hadn’t, I’d be dead.”

Cesia recalled from the murky depths of her mind Fedelta’s penetrating stare, and Rim Kaana with threads between her fingers and demon blood on her hands. “Yes. All right.” A pause. “Are you?”

“What?” Rim Kaana asked, startled. “I’m not dead-oh, you mean all right. Yeah, I’m okay, I guess.” She sounded a little admiring of herself.

“And you even made it through the final battle without passing out.” Cesia said dryly, fingers brushing through the air as she waved her hand, fighting down a little residual panic at the darkness.

“I almost wish I hadn’t, Rath’s been unbearable for hours.” Rim Kaana said matter-of-factly, starting to rise to her feet. “I’d better-” She paused halfway through the sentence and fell silent. “Cesia?” She asked tentatively after a second, and a chill rippled down the other girl’s spine at the almost guilty quality of the words.

“Yes?” She asked, a little unwillingly.

“How did you get that scar?”

Both of them knew that neither had to clarify.

Cesia’s hand drifted over her body to her hip, eyes blind but the touch familiar. “A demon.” She answered, throat aching. “A long time ago.”

There was silence for a long moment, and then a thin warm hand awkwardly grabbed hers, squeezing. The bones might have creaked, Cesia gripping back just as firmly.

“You’re very brave.” Rim Kaana whispered, and Cesia closed her eyes-no difference, but more of a comfort.

Then her hand was gone and a door quietly opened and shut.

“Rim Kaana?” She asked, a little uncertainly, and low, cool boy’s voice said; “no.”

“Rath!” She burst out, instinctively trying to scramble off the bed and nearly falling on her face. “You-” He caught her arms and she pressed her palms to his chest, feeling a heartbeat, feeling more than indignant.

“Wait a minute,” she complained. “I get you back your body and I don’t get to see it?”

“Just the same as before.” He said, his voice light and wicked, tension coiled in his lean frame. “Don’t you trust your own handiwork?”

“And I can’t even throw anything at you.” Cesia finished, her voice catching in her throat. There wasn’t anything she could think of that was better than hearing his voice, and she raised her hands to his face.

He bent, ducking them, and shoved his head under her chin, into her collarbone, like a demanding, affectionate cat. “Do I need to kill someone?” He mumbled, and she didn’t know what he was talking about until his palm settled over her hip.

His skin scalded her and though she grasped his meaning, she found herself significantly distracted. “Mm-” She said, twisting experimentally. His hand moved a little, and his nails dug into her skin.

“What?” She replied after a second, and gathered her wits. “No. And you’re not going anywhere, anyway.”
