This is fantastic! It made me get teary-eyed. (I miss Lennie!) I loved Van Buren's response: "Perhaps he didn’t want us to think of him as anything other than the tough guy he was." That's so perfect. I also like how Green is able to separate his feelings of loss from his emotions toward his new partner. And hearing Briscoe's voice in his head... perfect! This scene needed to be in the show. I'm so glad you wrote and shared it. Thanks a million for the great fic!!!

I miss Lennie, too! :( I miss Jerry Orbach in general. What an amazing actor.
