Summary: The fashion world was rocked today by news of Daniel Meade's arrest for the murder of rising glam-icon, Karen Betcher. Betty has to save the day. Again. Future fic, but no spoilers.
Hasn't Daniel improved since we first met him? Granted, 99.9% of that improvement has been through Betty's influence, but I think that for someone to accept their faults and work around them, they need to be a good person inside. Daniel is a good person. And good people don't kill.
But that's what Daniel is under suspicion of doing in this fic. An ex-lover of his has been found murdered in his apartment and Daniel has been placed at the scene. Can he prove his innocence? Or rather, can Betty?
You'll notice immediately that the story is broken up into sections with italicised snippets of 'Fashion TV' articles and it's wonderfull done. It really helps to capture the essence of Betty as a series and endeared me instantly to the writing style. With a variety of perspectives including a few OCs, we get to see the situation (and Daniel and Betty's relationship) from all angles. Nice writing and a fun, light read.
Preview: "Whatcha doin'?" Christina asked, peering over Betty's shoulder.
Betty sighed, then dropped onto Daniel's chair. "I don't know," she said, tossing a small notepad back into the open drawer. "I was hoping something would spark an idea. That maybe I could find a clue to who could have possibly done this."
"I take it you haven't been successful."
"No," Betty replied sullenly. "Nothing. I just don't get it. Who would want to frame Daniel?"
"Any one of a thousand women, I'd wager."
