Activism makes me tired, and that is my truth. But this "obesity crisis," so-called, has driven me absolutely bat-shit insane with inaccuracies, half-truths, contradictions, and jingo-ism.

If 2/3rds of Americans are overweight, doesn't that make us the statistical "norm?"

*sigh*

My best friend left yesterday after a week's visit. She's now morbidly obese, with all the attendant problems. She is also not healthy. She doesn't feel good -- I think the extra 180 lbs she's wearing is probably contributing to that. Given that we are whole beings, how can it not? I'm concerned for her -- and I'm concerned for myself and the 100 lbs I'm carrying around that I don't need. I don't, however, consider either of us to be lazy, ignorant slobs who can't be bothered to push away from the dinner table. We're both intelligent, engaging, amazing women to be around and that's true regardless of what we weigh, or don't.

If we both lost that weight somehow, neither of us would be "rail thin." Ironically, we'd both probably still draw snide "fat commentary" from ignorant people who don't know any better. But we'd feel healthier and in the end that's just more important than what we look like.

How to get there? Fuckifino. If I did know, I'd write a book, sell a bajillion copies, get filthy stinking rich and buy a cruise ship for all of us to live on for the rest of our lives. :)

I'd christen it "The Saved Whale." ;)
