Leonard sighed, pacing around Penny’s bedroom as he listened to her retching in the adjoining bathroom. He walked to the frosted glass door and lifted his hand to knock, then lowered it slowly and walked back to the other side of the room.
He winced at the sound of his girlfriend vomiting and walked back to the door, this time turning the doorknob and walking in.
“I told you not to come in here,” she said harshly, not looking at him as she knelt in front of the toilet.
He glanced back into her bedroom, then slowly sat on the floor next to her. “What can I do?”
“Leave,” she demanded.
He didn’t move.
She slowly turned her head to look at him. “Leonard, if I get you sick you won’t be able to see the collider thingy.”
He shrugged, shaking his head. “That’s not important.”
She rolled her eyes. “No, sweetie, it’s all you’ve been talking about for weeks.” She fell backwards to sit on the floor with a light thump.
He sighed. “And you’re gonna be ok?”
“I’ll be fine.”
“Ok, but if you need anything…”
“You’ll fly home from Switzerland to give me cough medicine?”
He shrugged. “I just hate leaving you like this.”
She smiled. “Really, I think you should go home before you get sick.”
He nodded and kissed her forehead softly before standing up. “Need some help getting into bed?”
She rolled her eyes. “What’s the point? I’ll just end up back here.” He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “You’re leaving,” she demanded.
“Yes, dear. I’m gonna call you every night and make sure you’re ok.”
“You don’t need to.”
“I’m gonna call you every night and make sure you’re ok,” he repeated.
“Ok,” she conceded, with a tiny smile.
“Alright. While I’m here, do you need…”
“Leonard!”
“Leaving. Leaving,” he said quickly, turning to walk out the door.
